How hard is it to deliver a parcel?

I've ordered an external HD.

I paid for the 'guaranteed delivery by 1pm Tuesday' as it was Louise's last day off and she was heading into london at midday.

It turned up at 3.40pm.

I phoned to rebook it - they don't do Saturday deliveries or allow you to re-direct the parcel to a new address, and can't guarantee a time more precise than 'between 8am and 6pm'. Oh and the 'local collection point' is in Hailsham. Which is 25 miles away, hasn't had a railway station since 1968, and doesn't have any bus service from Brighton!

On top of all this the reference number the idiot driver left on the little bit of card he put through the door was totally wrong and when i went to track the parcel online (after Googling the web address as they neglected to put it on the card) said it had been delivered, resulting in me having to phone the customer helpline number on the page. Naturally (after a 15 minute hold) this ended up taking me to the wrong department and i was transferred and put on hold again for another 15 minutes before being put through to a woman, who although very sympathetic to my plight really couldn't do anything about it. She said usually people ended up taking a day off to get parcels!

I've got 4 days off annual leave left until next April. There's no way I'm wasting one waiting for a fucking parcel which they couldn't even manage to deliver by the 'guaranteed' time.
