a personal victory
Finished my demo lesson about two and a half hours ago, have been home for maybe two. Personally, I feel like it went really well. I'm very happy with how I did and am thrilled with the students I worked with today. Could things have gone more smoothly? Of course. But I think it's the nature of the game that every lesson can be improved upon. I'm particularly happy with this lesson since I only had a day to work on it and it's based on a subject I'm not super familiar with. Anyway, I think it was fun and I had a great a time teaching it...so.
I'm not sure how well it went over. The mutterings I heard from the administrators while I was walking around the room during the group work were fairly positive, but they had their poker faces on after. My gut feeling is less than positive - something tells me that they didn't completely go for it. At this point, I know I did the best I could and if it's not good enough for them, then fuck 'em.
Anyway...should hear something by tomorrow. I believe the next step is that two of us head up to the Board of Ed to chat with the Superintendent. Hopefully I'll have good news this time tomorrow!
