Geek Code

No apologies for my absence.....college takes away your life. Anyhow:

GEEK TIME!!!!

In amidst my procrastination, I decided to finally write my very own Geek Code. It is basically common knowledge that geeks have this uncontrollable need to label and sort everything from trading cards to themselves and others. It may be due to the fact that our left brain is over developed or we feel the need to validate everything in response to criticism. Whatever the reason, the Geek Code came into existence in the early 1990s. If you have never heard of this code it is basically a system for geeks to communicate their interests and levels of respective geekiness.

So much for the history lesson.

I've known about the Geek Code for a while now but only just ten minutes ago decided to finally write mine out. However, before presenting my code, a disclaimer. I know (and hope) it will change slightly. Despite being a geek who has been out for many years, I have not fully embraced everything but, hey, I'm at Stanford now. I see no better time for a young geek to mold herself and get closer to her full geek potential than the time spent at one of those private colleges where people go around seeming to speak geek fluently. For example, my computer aptitude is lacking in some cases and only saved because my father is a geek as well but next quarter marks my first steps to change that. Alas, I did not include '>' in many of the categories because that would box in my development and I would rather let my code grow and blossom on its own (like the ISOs in Tron Legacy).

This. Is. Geekrandom.

Now, I won't leave you hanging. If you never have heard of the Geek Code or don't know the language,www.geekcode.com/geek.html will answer all your questions and allow you to build your own code. Worried about limiting yourself to a single line of code. Afraid you will feel less like an individual. Well, then sorry to say, you may not actually be a geek. This code is not limiting, it is empowering. Yes, it is a bit dated and Robert Hayden even admits this but what can you do. I was talking to people last night that we are now at that time in history where there are little kids in school that don't understand what is meant by the term 9/11....times change quickly. However, I encourage you to write your code out. Post it in the comments. Connect. Geek out.

It's good for you.

To codes and nostalgia......
