So in late December I decided to start eating right and really tracking what I was doing. I must admit, I was VERY inspired by
spiralngphoenix and her self care initiative.
I was sorting through some pictures and found a few taken my a new photographer in our studio building last September. Then I tried to snap a picture in a similar pose at my desk. It doesn't show the body changes, but you can see it in the face (and well, my hair is shorter too...but anyway...)
Taken 9/1/07 at over 170lbs (don't ask where I keep it, I'm dense):
Taken Today (at 158lbs last weighing):
(oh hai cheekbones, I missed you!)
I know, different exposures, slightly different angle, and different lighting, but I think it's still noticeable. I have a hard time seeing these changes, looking in the mirror every day. So getting a bit of before and after was very, very nice. Hooray for dancing again, and just taking a little more care to what I eat. I still drink beer, I still eat tasty tasty things..I just pay attention to how much of them I eat, and when I'm full.
Between dance and change of diet I'm really learning to listen to my body. In dance I'm learning control of muscles I don't think to move independently otherwise, in food and self care I'm seeing energy changes and mood changes in myself that are all for the better, just by eating more vegetables, less processed food, and eating smaller portions to make sure I'm eating enough, not over eating.
Good habits to learn now and keep, I think.
