This is totally bizarre...and you know that's a lot coming from me. A long time ago I learned never to say anything was 'impossible,' and I think this just proves it.

Daniel...do you think this could be some virtual reality? Remember how I told you about Veelox? When I first entered their VR program, Lifelight, I didn't even realize I was IN a virtual world. It was THAT real.

I'm starting to wonder if this could be the same.

It is pretty bizarre, yes. I've got a very bad feeling in the pit of my stomach about all of this, I don't mind saying. Good philosophy, by the way.

....I'm afraid to consider that option, honestly. Because it seems so...possible. I've had my own share of very bad experiences with virtual realities. In fact, I really can't say I've had any GOOD experiences with virtual realities. [is holding it back well, but an observant person would be able to tell that he's remembering something very upsetting]

If this is the same...I at least hope the people are real. Everything feels so real, but...

[sigh] I'm sorry. To put it shortly, yes, that's a possibility, as far as I can see. We have to consider it with all of our other options.

You and me both. I mean, this place wasn't good before, but this just seems to make things that much worse.

It's scary, yeah, but it IS a possibility. Which means we have to consider it along with everything else. If it IS a virtual reality, there has to be a way out.

[hesitates, because he IS an observant person] Are you okay?

...but what? You don't...you don't think everything is a construct do you? Even...us? [pauses, letting that sink again, he doesn't sound comfortable, he mutters the next part under his breath, probably hoping Daniel won't hear] Well, it wouldn't be the first time you learned things weren't real.

[silent for a moment before taking a breath] So, what do you think our other options are?

No kidding.

That's true. We have to consider all of our options.

I...yeah, I'm fine. Just...some bad memories.

[regrets saying that] No, that can't be right. I just...there were these things called Replicators once, and...

[half talking to himself now] No. They're dead. We got rid of those bugs. This can't be them. It can't.

...No. I can't accept that the people here are fake, too. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. You're not fake, Bobby.

[regains composure a little. Forces himself to stop being emotional] Well, there ARE other options. I think we could very well be in some sort of contained enviorment...maybe the teleporting from one side of the island to the other is just a way to keep us from trying to break out.

Honestly, we could even be in space. There are a lot of possibilities that don't involve virtual realities. I'm kind of hoping for one of those, myself.

[sympathy is a go] Look, Daniel, you don't have to talk about it. I know how things like that can be. Just...try not to worry about it, alright?

Whatever these Replicator things are...if you say they're gone, they're gone. Just like that Saint Dane guy I mentioned. The likelihood that this has something to do with EITHER of our realities is staggering, wouldn't you think? Especially with SO many different realities OUT there?

I think maybe we should stick with the contained environment theory. I mean, they can bring people here from other realities, surely a containment field that warps wouldn't be too far out of the question, right?

We just have to keep our head open and keep a look out for evidence.

Heh, I sound like a detective.

....[thoughtful pause]

Thanks, Bobby. That really does help. Guess I got a little egocentric for a moment there. [attempt at a laugh]

Excellent point. And actually, a man named Sephiroth just suggested another theory I find very interesting. That this city might have been drawn into a pocket dimension for some strange reason. If the effects of that shift were somehow bleeding into other realities, that might explain why so many random people are showing up.

Whatever the case is, it's obvious that this is some sort of experiment. What with all that's happened - the subways gassing, the occasional mass disappearances and reappearances, the missing days. (I wasn't there for that last event, but I've been told about it. At least twice now, everyone has woken up to find a day missing.) Not to mention the equipment we found in Central park and the strange computer messages.

[smiling] Hey. We'd all better start being detectives if we want to figure this thing out!
