I'm so impressed with this summary of D&D Essentials, and the issues around it, I'm sharing with everyone:
Part 1Part 2Part 3 It seems to come down to two issues:
- People don't like even the perception of change, regardless of if change actually happened or not.
- People don't like not having a choice. Even if their choices will be exactly the same as what you were going to give them anyway.
People think that D&D Essentials is a change, replacing the existing products and takes options away from them. It's supposed to be an additional choice you can use as well as the existing products, and simpler options for new players (by taking the bad choices away from them).
I'd like to know why people have this view, and why they hold so strongly to it even when told otherwise.
