Wheeee! More of Jack and his pain in the posterior captive-or Letty and her pain in the posterior captor! How wonderful to see the pre-mutiny Pintel teasing Jack. Poor pirate-he gets all the flack for having a woman in his cabin and none of the fun.
And then he forgets the secret knock. Silly Jack.
a gorgon in a red sack Ewwww! That poor woman! It’s good to see her showing a speck of spirit here. Then her reward is to have that pirate laughing at her-though her costume and antics do sound quite hilarious, so she could hardly blame him now, could she?
Such a sweet memory of Jack doing his mother’s hair-Awwwwwwww.
And of course Jack would never admit to anything sweet-must keep that legend growing.
Thanks so much for updating and feeding the addiction.
Hi, missy! Glad to see you getting out a little -- I hope you know all the nagging about Crossing/Worthy is complementary fun and we readers are very willing to wait for you.
Glad you enjoyed this installment of DotM! Re: Mother/Hair -- I expect even bloodthirsty cutthroats have mothers, of one sort or another, and considering the sort of man Jack appears to be I always imagine he had a good one. He has such nice manners, and they don't seem to be feigned or adopted for expedience.
Thanks so much for the lovely, detailed feedback! It's most appreciated.
I always crawl out from my rock to read your stories. :D I am certainly flattered by the interest in Crossing/Worthy--although like a good mother, I can't take sides. I got another two pages of Crossing written, which brings the total for the next chapter up to eight--not counting handwritten stuff. It may end up being two chapters.
As for Jack's manners, I always noticed he was the only one saying "please," and "thank you" in the movie. I'm sure his mother did make him behave!
You're welcome for the feedback. This fun story certainly deserves it.
I love when he does her hair, and the references to his mother, it's both sweet and intriguing, and the interaction between the two of them is just great. And I like that Pintel makes a brief appearance! “Modesty is thus preserved,” he said, solemn as a judge - or nearly. That's a wonderful line, and I'm fond of this, as well: She turned to him and almost smiled. “Were you a lady’s maid in a past life?”
Thanks for the recs, my dear! I'm quite overwhelmed by your kind words, and very honoured :-)
Thanks for the feedback, Mel. I'm glad you like the comedy/drama aspect of it. I think humor is such a common way of coping with disaster that most everyone can relate to it, and I much prefer it over straight drama, which can so easily seem soap-opera-ish.
"It's Mrs. Granger to you, mate." And to me, too, Jack thought Awwww.
"It's... very bright," she commented. *snort* This is adorable! As if she's trying to say something that's not quite "it's awful" (for she seems to be trying to be appreciative of Jack's efforts in her behalf).
Loved the exchange about tickling, but best by far was the hair brushing (mmmmmmm...) and Jack's memory of brushing his mother's hair (and his decision to keep the memory to himself).
Posted the bit with the drums and the dancing today, btw. ;)
'Adorable' and 'mmmmmmm' and 'Awwww' are most appreciated. That's what we Geek Mama's aim for most of the time (such a great antidote to RL 'ugh' 'eep', no?)
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me know!
