I would so much prefer to be on vacation today. Perhaps that thought has inspired this, my answer to this week's drabble challenge at Black Pearl Sails:
Oh. Wonderful, as always. I love the description of how the crown sinks, the falling into transparent black and ghostly silver fingers on buttery gold. It's a good thing we know it ends well, though, isn't it? :-)
So sad! Burial at sea hurts more because you know that's what he wants - at least, would prefer it to any other burial - and that's what he won't get from the navy. The description of the crown sinking is beautiful.
Speaking of which ... if you're not too busy, could you beta something for me, please? It's an angsty Jack/Scarlett one-shot of about a thousand words.
I like the notion that he's committing part of himself along with the crown. And while it seems like such a priceless thing to let go of, it's worthless to him, compared to what he came seeking and lost.

I don't think I could bear to write things like this, otherwise.

That was the point--so happy you got it! I'm glad you liked it, in spite of the angst. ;)

Subtle and sad, and very good, geekmama.
