So it's been a long time. A looooong time. But I just started writing again, after a two and a half year dry spell. Fell out of love and into like with PotC (don't hate me), and it wasn't until late last year that I was... not tempted, but sort of enraptured again by fannish squee thanks to BBC's SherlockIt's taken me months to start writing

I have the greatest love for Season 3 of Sherlock, but I didn't have to wait three or four years to see it. I think that long wait between chunks of canon can really ruin it for fans who get invested in their own version of the story -- it happened to me and to a lot of folks in the PotC fandom when DMC and then AWE came out, as you know. Most of the stuff I'm writing in Sherlock is set post Season 3 and will doubtless be rendered very A/U by Season 4, which they have just begun to film. 4 won't come out until next January, so there's a lot of time to get invested. But with the consistently brilliant quality of the production they've maintained throughout the series I expect I'll just be bouncing with fannish squee to see more of the show.
If you can point me to these awesome writers you speak of I would appreciate it, and I'll have to check out your
Sherlock fic -- available on your LJ I hope!.

I liked this an awful lot. It's a gen fic, but wonderful: http://paisley-pie.livejournal.com/3387.html. Anything by wordstrings is brilliant beyond belief. paperclipbitch did a couple that are on A03 that I liked mucho. She's a wonderful writer. I especially liked her Skyfall stuff (god, so frigging amazing), but her Sherlock stories (I think two of them), are great, too. emmagrant of Harry Potter fame has written an enormous amount and it's all on A03. Also silentauror of Harry Potter fame has also dived ( ... )

I loathe tumblr with a passionYou know, I do too. I saw that a lot of the AO3 writers have accounts there, and there is apparently some activity there, challenges and such, but it seems so unorganized to me. Thank you for the fandom info, though. Generally speaking I've only been on Facebook for a couple of years (and I never really post much there), and when I started posting my Sherlock stuff a month ago on AO3 I noticed there had been some changes. The lack of comments is a bit sad, but whatever. My philosophy has always been to write what I want to read, to the best of my ability, and if other folks read and enjoy, that's just icing on the cake. You can't please all the people all the time ( ... )
