Early Thanksgiving and Piratey Goodness

We had a day off this week, Thursday, Veteran's Day. I understand that those American citizens that are currently so very, very concerned with Morality objected to the showing of Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan on grounds of profanity during the scene in which the troops are landing and being blasted to smithereens on the beaches of Normandy. "Oh, shucks." "Darn." "Golly."

ladymora and dr_mrow invited us to the Mrow Estate for an Early Thanksgiving, which feast was also attended by gingersnapps, shockwavesix, and amy_leone. The house looked beautiful, and the food was plentiful and really delicious. I brought pies (two pumpkin, one pecan -- the crust came out great) made the gravy and carved the little bird (only 12 lbs. -- awwwwww!), but the others did everything else, so it was quite relaxing.

Had a Boa Night at the Cheesecake Factory the night before the holiday, and much fun was had, as well as Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake. Really nice ladies.

As for the Piratey Goodness, thanks to doolabug, I am now the proud owner of a car air freshener shaped like a skull and crossbones. The skull wears an eyepatch. It doesn't smell like pirates, however, but rather like "freshly swabbed decks", which is almost as good. I worship at the feet of Darling Doola, who not only writes superb Pirate!Porn but is generous to a fault.

I am diligently working on Chapter Three of Harry & the Pirate IV, but took a short break in order to come up with a hundred words to meet the Drabble Challenge of the week over at Black Pearl Sails: "Memories". The theme is in honor of Veterans Day, and everyone has been coming up with appropriately solemn subject matter. And then there is mine, a little J/E humor...

Reality Island

Quite disgusting. Drunk as bedamned, and dead to the world. She sniffed disapproval, even while gloating. Daring to touch the Governor's Daughter!

Although, if he hadn't dared a few days ago she'd be dead, indeed. Niggling guilt and a flush of remembrance made her frown down at him. Why had he done it? She could not imagine, except by assigning to him attributes associated with Heroes. Attributes of the beloved pirates of her storybooks.

He stirred, suddenly, startling her. Wrinkled his nose, sighed, and burped. Loudly. Then he smiled beatifically, and sank deeper into the arms of Morpheus.

Quite disgusting.
