Thanks so much! It's a story line I've been thinking about for a while. I'm glad it worked for you.

S**t, I just discovered there was a line missing (my word processor screwed up, or something). Fixed it now. Glad you liked it anyway, though.

Thank you. I don't usually do angst, but I have to get rid of Will somehow if I'm going to write J/E.

*blots at crocodile tears*

So I can write J/E! Of course, I could write J/W/E, but I'm not really into that whole group thing.

Why? Do you like Will? He is rather cute. Not as interesting as Jack, of course, but then few mortals are.

There's something impossibly tragic to me about the strong characters we love dying from something as mundane as an illness-- we expect them to go down fighting, or perhaps at a nice ripe old age.

The idea of Will dying at 30, or younger, from influenza is just heartbreaking to me.

Good work, I liked this :) Thanks!

Yes. Pneumonia is still a common cause of death today, and back then such illnesses were far more serious, what with the lack of antibiotics. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thanks for letting me know!

Oh my! Oh dear! You're writing J/E! *happy smile* I loved this, and
it has just the right amount of angst... For some reason, I especially
liked the "as she'd lain snuffling into his shoulder" bit.

So very happy you enjoyed it! I, too, like the h/c element. Glad it worked for you.

Very nice! Angsty but not overwrought. I feel badly for Elizabeth being widowed at a young age and I kind of hate the idea of killing off Will (done it myself in a drabble, though) - still, I have a hard time picturing her being happy with him through a long marriage. I suspect that, without Jack's daily influence, Will will become rather tame.

Maybe. Especially since they come from very different social strata: she wasn't raised to be a common housewife. But I think young love is blind to the strains of the long haul.

I don't like killing off Will either--their romance is one of the best elements of the PotC story--but I was thinking of writing some J/E stuff and I don't really think it works with Will still in the picture. Then, too, I made Jack a bit more heroic than he is in a lot of fics. I think it's as plausible a story line as any other, though, considering what we know of him from what's in the movie.

Glad you liked the fic! Thanks for commenting.
