The weekend was almost too eventful and I am still feeling a slight euphoria from the fun and great food.
Patrick, Jaren and Michelle carpooled with us to Golden and we all went to Clint and Boston Laura's 70's Newly Wed Game party. I was the only one in our group who had attempted to dress for the theme, but I cheated and wore my 60's mod dress (it's a black, long sleeved, mock turtle neck midi). I did a partial bee hive and a lot of dark eyeliner.
Anthony was nice enough to drive us for the night. I had a couple beers and a shot. Yep. I was on fire. Boston Laura had found an instruction disco dancing album so we learned (well, the girls participated) the hustle, the Spanish hustle, the bus stop and the wiggle. I think I embarrassed Michelle, especially during the actual newly wed game (we only played half a round) because I told her she was our sister wife. I think Patrick and Jaren had a good time. We left around 12:30 and headed to Great Scott's for some food. Jaren almost fell asleep in the booth. She's a teacher so she had been up since 5 (meaning, I'll forgive her).
Saturday was prety eventful. Anthony's friend from high school (Chris) was in town with his girlfriend (Megan). Anthony hadn't seen him in over 10 years so they met up for lunch. I finally had a little bit of money saved up for new clothing so I went shopping (only to target). I got a nice paisley printed dress that has a low v-cut front (hey, I have boobs, what's wrong with a little clevage?) and one of those buffalo check shirts (hot pink) that are now probably out of style. Whatever. It's comfy. I woke that later, but I gave it some shape by wearing a high waisted, thick belt. Eh. I try.
Later that night we met them at Rock Bottom on 16th street for Megan's birthday dinner with some of her friends (she had lived in Steamboat and Gillette for sometime and a lot of her friends had migrated to Denver). We ran up a $200 bill and Chris paid for it all -- uh wow. He's a manager at an Old Chicago's and I guess Rock Bottom owns Old C's... and the mangers get a 70-75% discount, so I didn't feel too guilty. Still, holy nice. After that, we went to grab a drink with them. One of Megan's friends suggested the Paramount cafe for drinks and wtf... different dimension.
I want to say now that I have never once been down to lodo to bar hop. I also want to say that I never will again. I'd love to avoid the douchebaggery and miniskirts from here on out. Anyway, the Paramount had the worst DJ doing the worst mash-ups. He looked like the DJ from Zoolander to top things off. That was about as much as I could handle and Anthony and I went home.
Sunday I seriously slept most of the day, but we met Chris and Megan and the friend she was staying with (Andrea) at Red Tango for a Valentine's dinner. I wore the paisley dress with grey leggings and my slouchy engineer boots. I felt super cute.
We ordered a bottle of pinot noir which was really good. We started with an appetizer platter: flat bread, pickled salmon, avocado, assorted olives, and fresh tomato and mozzarella with a chimi churi over it. One of us ordered a stuffed relleno with fresh (real) crab and ceviche, three of them got the black bean stuffed ravioli with blackened chicken (in a creamy sauce that looked really good) but I went for the veggie arepas. I am still giddy just thinking about it. It was two white corn cakes, sandwiching slices of zucchini, squash and tomato topped with queso blanco and poblano pesto. Holy wow! I want more right now! After that, we ordered all four desserts: chocolate tres leches cake, strawberry tres leches cake, Argentine taramisu and the best: flan with blackberry sauce!
Obviously, I am a fat kid at heart.
