Things what are Good. Hibernation Edition.

  • Sweaters of wool and cashmere. Thank you sheeps and goats! Soon I shall add alpaca to my collection.
  • Puppies. My dog specifically, and dogs in general are awesome.
  • Interior Decorating. It's pretty fun, actually. We're working on a painting project with some fairly bold colors. Pictures soon if it's any good.
  • Yarn. Soft and full of possibilities.
  • People who let other people into traffic. That's got to spread goodwill.
  • Blankets. Yes, there's a theme here. But really, blankets are awesome.
  • Books. I don't know if I could ever make the leap to a digital reader. I just really love books.
  • Ricola throat lozenges. I thought everyone loved the taste of these, but turns out I'm again uniquely unique.
  • Soft pillows. Best thing in the world.
  • Chanting "Bork! Bork! Bork!" to myself as I make B's dad's gift (a chef's hat).
  • Realizing that I'll never get stuff in the mail in time for it to get there by this weekend. And that's ok.
  • The TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF THE LIGHT! Every second counts. I've gotten really used to not getting a lot of sun. It's sort of like living a half life. I brave the cold wind out on the train platform in the mornings to get a dose of sun.
  • Realizing that even without sufficient light, sleep, health, or binge-level amounts of calories, I'm still getting lots of stuff done.
  • A year that in many ways was extremely difficult, but also full of subtle surprises and delights. I learned a lot about myself and about those close to me.
  • Birds. Even though Spring is still pretty damn far away, I still think of them as heralds of Spring. I wish peacocks wandered into our yard. That would be cool.
