Happy Birthday to me (and avung!)
Hey! So it was my bday today. I worked all day, then worked the upper school open house tonight, then practiced for 2 hrs at school in the classroom. Good thing i get to do that, or i would not have been able to get any playing time in today. Got home after 11pm. What a bday.
One year i ushered in my bday in a sweat lodge, being sung to by amazing vivid young people. That was a great year for personal growth and being kind to myself.
This year, i ushered it in working and playing sax. This year, then, should be great for Jazz! Go Go Go Jazz!
Have a gig tomorrow night, paid, at a cafe in Encino! Sweeeeet. It's at the same place we had been playing a few months ago, but the bandleader of that gig bailed out and cancelled at the last minute b/c "it was cold". The restaurant owner called the drummer to ask if he'd want to play w a combo, and the drummer called me! NICE! So... off i go tomorrow night to play standards and see what happens with it all!
