My car hit the 30,000 mile mark this morning during my 5 mile commute to work. I got my car back in April 2006, so I think this is actually quite a feat. The car is already more than halfway paid off and I think it will last for several more years. As long as I take care of it, I suppose, which means I need to take my car in for it's 30,000 mile tune-up.

I booked another flight yesterday. This one is for Las Vegas. I'll be flying out Friday afternoon on March 13th and returning on Sunday, March 15. Why am I going to Las Vegas? Oh, just a little excursion for Yvonne's bachelorette weekend.

I still haven't booked a flight for New York because Tanya assures me the prices will drop. That will be plane trip #3 of the year 2009 (and that's in April!).

My good friend Danny just accepted an offer from his work to relocate to New Orleans for 6 months starting in January. He works for an architecture firm that specializes in marine structures and his firm has been contracted by the government to be the ones to build a dam/levy structure out there. He's already found someone to sublease his room in San Francisco, and his firm is paying for his apartment while he's in New Orleans. They have also agreed to give him a $59 per diem while he's out there. Oh, and the apartment they found for him is about 1 mile from his office. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. So if you're wondering where all the good money is at these days, why not try majoring in architectural engineering?

While I'm super psyched that he has this great work oppotunity, Danny will no longer be a major part of my San Francisco trip for my birthday. Boohoo--but, I'm sure I'll still have a great time in San Francisco with Fernando and Kenia. It would be awesome if I could somehow make it out to New Orleans while he's out there, but it will be hard to take any more time off from work (and the same goes for Fernando).

And finally--the news you're probably waiting to hear--we still have not officially closed on Vasquez Manor yet. The word from our realtor is that we should be signing the closing paperwork today, and by the time everything is processed, we should be getting the keys on Friday. I finally got to see the house during the day on Sunday. It has 5 fruit trees (pomagranate, orange, peach, apricot, plum), and 2 other fruit plants (grapevines and blueberries). It also has 2 really good looking weeping willows and what is rumored to be a pepper tree. Cross your fingers that this weekend is our lucky weekend! I actually started packing, so I hope my work is rewarded.
