A new/old AD/HD story

Last night Griffin was restless. Very restless. He was climbing on to everything and jumping off it all. I was finding my self saying don't stand on the table/couch back/couch arm/chair/ wall every time I turned around.

I have been reading about ADHD and how for some people they use thrill seeking to help them regulate and focus that the igher their adrenaline runs the better they feel and can see life.

When Griffin was little just over a year old he ended up getting a illness that kept him home for several weeks. One of the days home with him we were in the living room and he was scooting about and playing. He began to collect the pillows from around the room. I was intrigued. Most of the pillows were bigger than him and this was quite a bit of hard work for one so little. He stacked them quite precisely on the couch still more work for him he had to get the pillows on to the couch and get him self on as well. Eventually he had a straight angle going from the back of the couch to it's edge and a few steps to the top.

I was fascinated.I continued to watch him as he looked at his work then crawled up to the top and slid down and flew off the edge of the couch. I was so impressed by his ingenuity that he was able to slide again before the safety switch flipped in my brain and I stopped him.

So I remembered that last night. I had several thoughts about this the top being how to I curb this behavior without causing pain (emotional) knowing what it is. And should I even stop it as long as he is not hurting him self others or property?

So that is living with AD/HD.....heavy on the H.
