There is a French bakery just a few blocks away from our house. I usually avoid it mostly since I know my weakness for yummy, pastry goodness is non-conducive to an overall fitness plan. :)
Every once in a while, on the weekend, I will make the conscious decision to throw caution to the wind and stop in to the bakery. Today was one such day. The shop was in a bit of disorder as they are rearranging, and there was a petite sign saying that selection would be limited for the next two days.
The display case was mostly empty. There wasn't much of anything, and nothing appealing or recognizable. But I figured I would ask if they at least had des croissants or something. He said, "Yes" and went to the back to get them.
They were in the back because they just came out of the oven!
If you ever get the chance, I HIGHLY recommend stopping in to a French bakery first thing in the morning and sampling a warm, buttery, crispy, chewy croissant!! These things are très magnifique!!
The only problem is, now that I know to stop in at 7:30 AM to get a warm, fresh croissant it will be that much tougher to avoid the bakery! :)
