Chemistry geekiness! To celebrate starting the new chapter in my life called grad school, I designed a new geeky blanket this summer and five months later it is finished!
Because I didn't really like the look when I crocheted the element names on, I stuck with color-coding them by type. For all the chemistry nerds out there, I realize ununseptium and ununoctium probably aren't halogens or noble gases. But they're still part of groups 17 and 18 because of some similar chemical properties, and so I labeled them as such.
It's too big for my twin sized bed. >.<
The blanket is super simple. About 280 granny squares of various colors, joined together by a flat chain braid. More details on how I made the blanket can be found on my blog:
