Cross Stitch Geekiness

My friend told me I had to join this comm, and she's so right! The work on here is simply brilliant!! So, without further ado

I made this for my friend because she's wonderful, she's a Hufflepuff through and through and she was my bridesmaid and it seemed completely fitting as a present:

Unframed

The backstitching on of extra fabric was because I was a bit of a tit and halfway through stitching it and I cut off a load of fabric and then realised that the crest sticks out on that side which was why I needed it. Luckily the crest didn't need to go any further over and the framing hides the error :D

Framed

It took a year to stitch, and that was with me stitching whenever I had a spare moment (other things take longer because I don't always stitch all the time) and I finished it the day before our wedding and had our best man's wife helping me with the framing and wrapping!! It was a close one!!

I've made patterns for all the other crests, including the Hogwarts crest, but although I have the aida to do them all, I haven't quite gathered all the colours together and started any of them yet.

This next one was a lot simpler and I did it whilst away on training for my new job. I think it took three, maybe four weeks of intermittent stitching:

This is for the same friend (are you beginning to see a pattern?! We're both geeks :P lol) We hit upon a challenge where we'd make each other geeky crafts and this is the first one I've made for her. We both dabble in writing so I really enjoyed stitching this one. I made the pattern from a picture of snoopy and then used a typewriter font to copy for the back stitch.

I'm currently working on finishing a cross stitch of The Beatles Sgt Peppers drum from the album cover, so I'll be sure to post that to show you all when I'm done - I was supposed to finish it by October last year as it's for my friend's parents and we were visiting them then. It's nearly half way done and we're visiting them again at the end of September so here's hoping I get it finished and don't have to wait another year to give it to them! I'm making it because her Mum knitted me the best Slytherin scarf so it's a thankyou gift that both her and her husband will like (I hope!) I will get my friend to post the pics of the scarf because she (herself, not her Mum) also knitted me the best ever fingerless gloves and hat to match :D

Happy crafting people!
