For this appetizer/trashy dinner, put together the following:
1 packet of Taco Seasoning
1 packet of shreadded cheddar
or mexican style cheese
1 container of Refried Beans (a large can)
1 container of sour cream (the big kind)
1 jar of salsa (optional)
1 bag of tortilla chips
Heat up the oven to approximately 350 degrees. Get out a 9 by 13 inch baking pan and spread an even layer of refried beans across the bottom. Mix together the packet of taco seasoning and the container of sour cream and spread it on top of the refried beans. If desired, this is when the layer of salsa should be put in, when I make mine I opt out of the salsa just because I find it tends to make it watery, however some people love it with the addition of the salsa. When serving I tend to just have a bowl of salsa to the side so people can add it if they please. Then the entire pan is covered with an ample amount of cheese to make it nice and gooey.
This dish should be cooked until the cheese is completely melted and is slightly bubbling, with a little bit of brown at the edges. It is best when served directly out of the oven with tortilla chips.
BTW I am new but this looks like a great community, I've already gotten quite a few dinner ideas from the first few pages. :)
