link snausage

I have actual substantive topics I'd like to write about, but I'm having a hard time coming up with the energy to do it. In the meantime, have some links:

Via bitchphd, some pharmacists in Washington state are now refusing to fill prescriptions for antibiotics and vitamins, citing moral objections.

Also via bitchphd, Dr. B talks about introducing her kid to her boyfriend. Read through the comments too, it's mostly worthwhile.

Via wilwheaton, somebody just sold on ebay.co.uk a 1988 Ford Escort that he'd modded to look like a Landspeeder. Link is to Wil's column at SuicdeGirls, but that page is worksafe. If you can't access that domain in the office, the column links over to this site.

The Emo Programmer:
Ruby and Rails have ushered in a new era which respects not just the technical but also emotional needs of developers. Recognizing that programmers cannot be expected to care deeply about users if they--the programmers--are not happy and fulfilled, Emotional Programming™ brings a new level of sensitivity to software development. The Emo Programmer™ is one who strives to craft the most user-friendly, accessible, and inspiring applications. It is no longer enough for our programs to work well--they must add meaning to our end-users lives. Emotional Programming™ shines a light on the path to a more emotionally uplifting approach to software development.

A more serious post from Kathy: When only the glib win, we all lose.
Let's face it--the clever, witty, glib talkers can make the non-clever, non-witty, and non-glib sound like slow dolts. Slow-to-articulate is mistaken for slow-in-the-head. And as the world speeds up and decisions have to be made right frickin' NOW, it just gets worse.

So there's the heart of the problem--if you're not able to explain your thoughts, ideas, and concerns quickly and articulately, you are often at a disadvantage.
