You can always tell it's going to be a good day when... a local cafe is giving out free cakes as you walk past on your way to work...
After many hours of study, I have come to the conclusion that the Internet is a lot smaller than anyone thinks. Or, to be specific, everyone's personal internet is small. Given that I'm currently working out my notice period. I'm really not that bothered with working that hard. So I thought, 'Winner! I get to surf the net all day!'. But after a few days I'm bored. I have a series of websites I check every day and some boards I post to, but surfing the net full-time can get boring.
Went over to M's house last night, had a lovely dinner with him, his family and V. Was really cool to see them all again, I really like them, they treat matt and his friends as a equals rather than kids, which is refreshing given some of my friends families. V is currently going for a series of interviews for jobs in publishing do good luck to her! And after dinner we played on M's Xbox 360, which just compounded my desire for one, if only I had the money! But with the new job (and the pay rise that comes with it) will hopefully let me get one. Played Fight Night, which was very pretty but not really my kinda game, and Just Cause, which rocked. It seems to be a game all about the spectacle of video games rather than any great plotting (or ties to reality) but the spectacle is very pretty. There's nothing quite like hanging off the tail of a helicopter as it flies along, then jumping off and free falling until pulling you parachute about 10ft from the ground. As I said, pretty and fun, but not very realistic.
Am currently getting quite disillusioned with Marvel Comics, in particular the X-Men titles. One thing I always enjoyed in serial comics such as these were what you would call the 'fluff' issues. These are were for an issue, nothing serious happens. It might just be a issue of a the team hanging out, playing sport, a romantic thing. These were infrequent but gave a reality to the stories that is missing nowadays. We are barraged with a series of bad guy after bad guy, fight after fight and this just weakens the value of these stories. Maybe I’m just being a old man, complaining 'It was all different in my day..' but that’s my view ;) But salvation is here in the form of Battle Pope published by Funk-A-Tron. Picture the scene, after the rapture Earth is handed over to the demons and the, predictably, run amok. Into the breech steps the Pope, a hard-drinking womaniser with a potty mouth. Following his body being made-over by God, he sets out to rid the world of the demons and get laid as much he can along the way. Not one for the easily offended or the fundamentalists...
Am off to the dentists tonight. I really can't stand them. It's not a fear, it's a hatred. I just cannot stand injections in my mouth, freaks me out. Which is unfortunate given that I have weak teeth and tend to need a lot of work. This time I'm having a cap removed and built up again as it hasn’t grown as much as my other teeth. But I need a few filling and probably s couple pulled. Sucks to be me today...
Til Tomorrow...
