"Before He gave any shape to the world, before He produced any form, He was alone, without form and without resemblance to anything else. Who then can comprehend how He was before the Creation? Hence it is forbidden to lend Him any form or similitude, or even to call Him by His sacred name, or to indicate Him by a single letter or a single point. . . . But after He created the form of the Heavenly Man, He used him as a chariot wherein to descend, and He wishes to be called after His form, which is the sacred name 'YHWH'.[1]"
-from the Zohar
speaking is only another aspect of sound or vibrational energy. if we think of god as universal consciousness or a one mind that essentially is made up of all energy existing in our universe, than in the action of the big bang, energy was converted from a singularity of matter where energy was completely inert. as a push for equilibrium within the energy systems, this ball of matter explodes with the force of increased vibrational activity pushing out to infinite realms. this is your "god speaking the world into existence." the light is in effect energy, and by "saying" the words "let there be light" it was essentially explaining the increased vibrational resonance. "god" is not necessarily a neutral force, as we interpret in the new testament, as the "God" in the torah and new testament are actually several gods, "elohim," adonai, elahaynu, molech h'olam…. in all truth, the only mention of a creator is in genesis, and the translation could be more accurately translated as "creation" instead of "creator."
kabalah teaches that god is more of a moving force, or a verb, than a being or state of being. as the prophet once asked god for his true name, god replied, "I am that I am" or "I am therefore I am" indicating that a name or singular identification representation of its being was unimportant compared to the affirmation that it exists.
