Repeal of DADT
I posted a note about this in my FB, but feel the need to put a finer point on it.
One point that was made by the opposition of this initiative reads roughly as follows:
"Would a man in a foxhole really trust and help the man next to him if he knew that man was gay."
My answer is: fuck those people.
Given a choice between someone so fragile that he won't do his job because of someone else's personal life and the professionals that have been doing their jobs even though they have had to keep their personal lives secret; I think the value proposition for unit cohesion is quite clear.
I choose the professionals. The homophobes can stay home and pump gas.
