Just so we all get our outlandish hyperbole smoke-screens straight when trying to spread fear and hysteria at the bidding of our Corporate overlords, FiveThirtyEight explains the difference between the
Canadian and United Kingdom health care systems.
The free market is far more efficient at determining the price of buying politicians, the price of generating fake outrage over unfounded rumors, quadruple the profits of health insurance companies, collude with pharmaceutical companies for better profit margins, and the millions of dollars in compensation for heath insurance company CEOs that guarantee industry protections will prevent our precious industry from eliminating options and preventing care from all those free-loaders too lazy, too sick, or too injured to work someplace with employer provided care (and those with pre-existing conditions, fuck them - oh, and don't forget those that want some kind of special treatment or test that might prevent more expensive treatments in the future, if it might impact the quarterly profit report or the golf tournament funding or bonuses for executives).
Never mind that administrative costs are only reduced across the system when there are less rather than more insurers and that insurance companies can only become more efficient by having more capital, more income (more or higher premiums), cutting corners on care, and denying care to expensive (actually in need of care) members. What really matters here is that by calling a rent-taking bunch of financiers an industry, we can evoke the power of free-market competition as the most efficient system (as though they make widgets that can be transparently assessed by consumers and consumers have the choice to purchase the cheapest and most effective products) to generate the best outcomes for consumers, when we know that the market produces the most efficient outcome for executives and shareholders by denying transparency and choice to consumers. But what's more American than an industry, right?
After all, it makes far more sense to have the costs of emergency care for the uninsured wrapped into the costs of actual care, so we can complain loudly as tax-funded entitlements like Medicare go up due to the undocumented cost of the uninsured trying not to inconveniently die on our sidewalks. Fuck those lazy fuckers. Besides, budget deficits are a great thing to complain about whenever you no longer have a majority in Congress, because no one notices when you are actually blowing all that tax revenue on bullshit and tax cuts when you are in power. It's far cheaper for health insurers just to pay off politicians to maintain the rigged market they benefit from than to provide value to customers and finance care transparently, and that's the American way dadgummit.
Government health-care or health insurance can never work. It's just evil! Government can't do anything but provide quality care to Congressmen, government employees, soldiers, and seniors on Medicare. If it ever did anything else, it would kill granny, kill babies, and mandate sex-changes, because that makes total sense (especially if you are using insurance premiums to fund a disinformation and lobbying campaign, or you are gullible).
Or something.
Where was I? Oh yeah: Commie.

Sure, nearly every measure and statistic discounts this claim whether we address cost, standard of living, or life-expectancy, but damnit nobody replaces hips like we do! So, forget all those metrics, statistics, and so called facts and search your feelings. Then your love of America will tell you that our health care is better than anyone else's, and if you weren't laid off just now, you too could have some!
Did I mention that commies are going to kill granny?
They keep denying that they want to murder you in your sleep and sell your children to gay indoctrination FEMA camps, what are they hiding?

If they had a point or a counter-proposal, I would entertain it, but they are just fucking making shit up and screaming crazy shit to drown out any other views.
For that matter, I hold my reasonable and mature Republican friends accountable for not shutting this bullshit down or distancing themselves from Republican leaders that play both sides of this carnival of stupidity. Seriously, if you claim loyalty to the ideology and leadership of one side or another, you also have some accountability for speaking up or leaving when your leadership and membership starts going in the direction of madness.
