Looking glass theory!! Oh gosh, that would have a lot to do with hetalia, wouldn't it? I'm surprised at myself that it takes you mentioning it for me to think of the theory exactly, when the nations are stereotypes. Its all a question of how much you think they are their own being.

I go for quite a bit of independence for the tans, but that is very much because it makes me uncomfortable otherwise, and a lot harder to wrap my mind around them. In reality I think they should be mostly the current culture, with a strong portion of the history and perception of others added. Only a bit is who the tan themself is. England fights with France because his people think he would, and maybe more so that's what France's people expect.

I would think the national id would have the most weight, but how the comic is it is the perception of outsiders that the character is mostly based.

......totally rambled there, but I do love the topic. Sorry to go off like that.

I love this, and all the little details most of all. The use of human names throughout was subtle until you hit that bit in the end. I didn't notice until then, then and to squeal a bit.

I do have one question, what was the thing with not seeing Gilbert. (I may have thought this was post war, until I hit the bit with Ludwig and Kiku talking about the oath >.> )
