Family Connection question #77

Of the school activities you have participated in, which one (s) has given you the most satisfaction? Please explain why.

Theater gave me the most satisfaction becuase i love to perform. i love the thril of opening night and live theater. i love to dance, sing, and make a fool of my self, and i love it more when people watch, then clap. When im on stage, i see nothing but lights. i can't see the audience even though i know that they can see me. i know that all the rehersals, all the nights i've come home to tired to brush my teeth and have gone to bed, and all those missed dentist appointments were all worth it. Opening night when that same overture, you've heard a million times, starts playing and the audience gets so quiet you think you've gone deaf, and all you can think about is praying that when you get out there the words that spill out of your mouth are the right ones. Hearing Adell's voice leading warm up in the grove as the sun fades behind the lower gym and every night you count down to the last performace trying to absorb all of it before its over... memories and feelings like that. a thrill like that. i've never been able to find anywhere else but in Performance Theater. if i could i would live, drink, and eat theater.

theres only two things in the world that i would literally drop everything at anytime to go and do:
Theater & Photography

i think that Photography will always be my passion. i love shooting for the yearbook; i want to be a phtoojournalist. Having someone come up to me and saying thanks for putting me in the yearbook, or having Jessica Henkel come knocking on my cabin door, on our Catalina Trip, at 6:45 in the morning, saying that she's found the most beautiful picture that I have to capture, or being able to take a picture of my friends and after seeing it, having them reply, "this is what i will look like in heaven" makes photography worth while. i could go on for hours on how photography makes me happy and complete. it is my passion. it is what makes me happy. it is what keeps me sane. it is my reason for existance. if i could do nothing but takes pictures for the rest of my life, no eating no sleeping, i would do it in a second. my long time idol and world famous photographer, Henri-Cartier Bresson, has taught that to be a good potographer 'one must take teh circustances given and make the world one giant open-air studio'. Since the world is not yet at my disposal... i'll stick to capturing my friends, thier many expressions, my school, my city, my studio... my world. photography gives me such satisfaction becuase in this chaotic world run by time and grades and expectations with my camera i can escape to a different world, in 125th of a second.
