I'm now freaked.. You know how Rio plucks his feathers and had mutilated under his wing? Well it had stopped, his mutilation was healed and done. I thought, until tonight I got home from work and went to visit with him in the Q room where he has been spending his days until I know I can trust him with my other birds. There was blood.. all over his feathers right below his wing, I knew what it was immediately and toweled him to take a look. It looked horrid, very bloody and just a big open sore. He hasn't started plucking again just chewing. I feel so guilty because it's hard to give him all the attention he needs without ignoring Max, Hunny and Ms. Petey. I am moving him into my room tomorrow and I already called my vets emergency number to make an immediate appointment for tomorrow morning. I know what's going to happen and I feel terrible. He is going to have a collar put on him. :( This may be a good thing as he will not be able to rip and chew at his skin under his wing and when he is in my room with the other birds he won't be able to try and eat Hunnny or Ms. Petey (my budgies) If it wasn't for the fact that he lunges, hisses, and attacks my hands if I try to block him from them(the budgies), he would already gone through the move to my room.
--Rio was at the vet less than four weeks ago and then a week (making it less than three weeks ago) later we went in for a process check. (To see if the antiboitics for his open sore mutilation wound was healing.. It was and everything was fine! I SHOULD have been checking every night to make sure he wasn't messing with it after I stop giving the medicine. (less than two weeks ago!)
Edit : I also already applied topical antibiotics to it, when I found it. (The same antibiotics that the vet gave to me for it in the first place.)
