Unless you want me to continue to be hilariously clumsy...

Since I'm a boring loser, have a three day weekend and nothing to do. Been mostly uploading new music to the ipod and catching up on "In Plain Sight" and "Justified" since I've been way behind.

TV Commentary:

Justified- So, Winona's new husband is kinda an idiot. But I like how the show doesn't make him this 1-dimensional character that has you wondering why the hell Winona's with him. I mean, you can label him a moron, but as Winona says, he's a dreamer- and hell, when he tells Raylan all about his plans for that land, they were pretty lofty plans, and also quite imaginative. It didn't seem like he was just in to get rich quick, he really wanted to build something awesome.

And he's a nice guy, just some one who does some pretty dumb things, like borrowing money from a friggin' loan shark. But yeah, he asked his retired football player friend to help him try to talk things out, but ends up getting his friend beat up. He feels extremely bad about it, and when it becomes clear not only are the collectors going after him, but Winona also, he desperately tries to look for a way out to save her. He even thinks of killing himself. Sure, you can't get insurance money on a suicide, but the fool doesn't know that! His heart's in the right place. When he sees Raylan all beat up, he worries it was because of him too and feels bad about that also!

Anyways, Winona breaks it down for us, why she left Raylan and got with Gary. She likes that he's a dreamer, he wants something out of life, compared to Raylan. Raylan is this cool bad-ass, maybe too cool. Its not that he's all business, a guy who cares about the job and nothing else, I think he's a simple guy who doesn't really want that much out of life. And its not that he's lazy either, far from it. But Winona wanted more, and he just couldn't give it to her.

So I feel kinda bad for him, he obviously cares for Winona deeply, but she has someone he loves, a guy who's a sort of a dumb-ass, but still a good man.

I'm still trying to figure out Boyd's deal. (I'm an ep behind since Hulu is on a 9 day delay, so if it's been illuminated for the audience, I don't know yet) The law seems to think the religious conversion is an act, a sham, and that his little cult is just a front for a new gang. And maybe it is true, but not in the way they think. I can't tell if the religious thing is just a way to control his men, or if he really believes what he's saying. Kinda like a religious vigilante- cleaning up the streets and saving souls, by force, if necessary. And he ends up accidentally killing someone when destroying a meth lab, and he seems legitimately upset about it.

Also upset, Raylan, because its his worst fear, that his eff-up from sleeping with Ava which caused Boyd to be released would cause someone to get hurt or killed. Heh, since he messed up, he tried to get Doug E Doug's character to recant and identify Boyd. Only, he was actually for real when he said he didn't recognize Boyd. Which was kinda hilarious, because it did seem like he was just scared. Of course, he's all, "sure, just tell me what he looks like, and I'll ID him!" But Raylan's not that kinda guy.

When this show first started, it was easy to think that Raylan might be this crooked guy who gets results. But he's not. He's just an anachronism, a lawman from a different time. He's not even an overly violent guy- he's shown time and time again he's willing to talk it out. But if you're insistent on drawing on him, he'll put you down. He believes in justice and the letter of the law- sure, he may be a little threatening, but there's a line he won't cross. He'll be insistent that someone tell the truth, but he's not gonna threaten someone to make false witness or anything

justified, tv, in plain sight
