TV Commentary:

Dollhouse- Figures that once this show has been definitely canceled, that's when they make things even more exciting and mind-blowing. Interesting twist with the Senator. I did find that weird exchange between him and his wife totally creepy, and it seemed perfectly reasonable that she would be an active. But then it turned out he was the real active?

I'm a little skeptical about the whole re-imprinting people with a slightly different version of themselves instead of a totally new personality. Or rather, that its supposed to be difficult. I mean, once they said Wesley (heh, it was interesting to see he and Faith together again) wasn't some made up person, that he definitely existed, but was a boozy loser frat boy dumbass that they turned into a goody-goody driven white knight senator, people were bound to be all, "if they can modify people like that, why not do that more often? Instead of all this craziness with Ballard last year, why not just grab him and "modify" him and make him forget all about the Dollhouse and put him back in the FBI none the wiser"? They try to explain it away by having Topher gushing over River's work and how modifying a person's own self "takes a fine touch", but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Obviously, one can imprint people with other existing people (it still offends me that people think the rich lady trying to solve her murder ep was one of the worst eps. Sure, it was a prosaic storyline, but the whole idea of fake immortality was friggin huge for the mythos of the show!), Topher even turned Victor into Topher 2.0. Which btw, seriously, the guy who plays Victor is a incredible actor. He is a phenomenal mimic! And if some imprints are amalgams of different personalities woven together, or with slight changes, why would modifying one's own personality be harder than creating a totally new imprint that is created by combining and editing other personalities?

Totally crazy though, so Rossum's plan all along was to get the Senate subcommittee started, and then throw November under the bus by claiming she was a mental patient manipulated by a "consortium" of opposing companies to try and destroy them. So not only do they discredit the idea of "Dollhouses", they strike down their opposition?! And even crazier, River had her own thing going as well.

Speaking of, I do think Bennett is an interesting addition. When they showed her having the dead arm, I figured Caroline had something to do with it, because when they first showed Caroline's entry interview into the Dollhouse, I got a "eco-terrorist" kinda vibe from her, so I suspected she blew up something that injured Bennett. But the reveal that she and Caroline were friends, and Caroline abandoned her all "no use in us both getting caught" is quite interesting. As was her speech about how Caroline is manipulative and she always gets everyone to follow her. It would be a totally awesome twist in the end if Caroline did end up being a bad guy who Bennett is right to warn people about.

And I found the stuff with her and Topher totally hilarious! Their awkward geeky flirting was weird, and a few times there, I thought she was totally just playing a role and trying to manipulate Topher. Well, obviously, she was at some points, but the whole mutual admiration club did seem for real at times. And then there was that corny exchange where he tries to see if the taser-disruptor would work on her, and she was all, "Stupid, how could I be a Doll, they're totally beautiful!" and he's all "Exactly!" For a geek with terrible social skills, that was pretty smooth. And the conversation between Topher and Topher-Victor gushing about her was quite funny.

Interesting threads left open at the end. So both Ballard and Echo are separately gone from the Dollhouse. And is Bennett sending Mellie to the attic, or does she have something else planned? Ray Wise as Adele's DC counterpart was an interesting choice. Wonder if they'll bump heads again?

Monk- So its finally over. Interesting end. So Trudy had a secret affair with Coach before she met Monk and had a child which she thought dead but was put up for adoption. So she, the missing midwife, and Ed Begley Jr were all killed covering that up so as to not ruin Coach's political aspirations? And indeed, why the hell would he put a sundial under a tree? Couldn't he have gone with a birdbath?

And Trudy said she had an affair with Coach in law school before she met Adrian. But didn't they meet in college? There was that whole memorizing her number by being used as a table by that other guy who asked for her number and figuring out her number from the way the pen felt on his back. So wouldn't she have met Adrian already at that point?

Whatever. But I figured there was a daughter still alive out there. Well, the rules of TV/movies do say if someone mentions a secret baby from a long time ago, but it died, it never really died, that always means there's a secret kid out there. But since I saw Alona Tal's name in the credits, and there was no one else to introduce after Monk solved Trudy's murder and Coach killed himself, I figured, "Ah, she must be playing the secret daughter!"

But its totally weird. Why is she so accepting of this creepy weirdo in her life? Its not like he's her father! Her real father murdered her real mother and then killed himself once he got caught. I mean, I think it would be nice to know stuff about her mom, but he's way too close and clingy for someone who has no relation to her whatsoever. And its not like she didn't have a parental figure and he's filling that role for her, because it sounds like she has two adoptive parents who were good and still around!
