Long time no post! So after missing HH last year because of the pandemic, went this year. But it was just me,
isabel79, her mom, and Tita N. As such, it was weird in that I did the cooking. And because of the whole parking situation, E did all the driving around. It was a good time, though only got to go to the pool twice because of the Elsa weather- Monday and Friday. The rest of the time was rainy, and we even lost power late Wednesday night for a few hours.
But yeah, I say I cooked, but really just scrambling eggs and cooking bacon for breakfast, did burgers, hot dogs, tacos, and spaghetti, not like something fancy. We hit the Crab Shack for my moms b-day (even though she was all the way in NY), I was a little worried we'd be too late and end up having to wait because there was crazy traffic on the way there (it took us an hour to go more than a mile!). But we got there before the rush.
We did also hit One Hot Mama's, which apparently TC had never been to? I mean, I know she doesn't go anymore, but I swear she was there once. Anyways, she made E pick up an order Friday to throw in the cooler when they swung by DC on the way back to NY.
All in all, it was a good trip.
TV commentary:
So new seasons are out for "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" and "My Next Life as a Villainess" on Crunchyroll, but only subbed so far. But I'm too into both to wait for the dub. I mean, obviously I'll watch the dub when it comes out, but yeah, I don't have the patience to sit on these until then. It sounds like there will be a new season of "The Saga of Tanya the Evil", hopefully dubbed. But they still hadn't dubbed the movie. Though maybe with a new season coming, they will finally front over the cash to do a dub of the movie and the new stuff.
Fear Street- I had heard Netflix was doing this and didn't think anything of it until I saw some posts on tumblr saying the main coupling were lesbians. And this has done its job in fulfilling the void left by Scream getting cancelled before getting my Emma/Audrey final girls endgame.
Never Have I Ever- New season, I binged it in a day!
I do favor Daxton, so I may be a little biased. But lets be real, its not like Ben is the "nice guy" choice that Devi should obviously pick because Paxton treats her like a jerk. Because both of them treated her pretty badly over the course of the show. (And to be fair, Devi's not so innocent, she's done some messed up stuff to both of them)
Because yeah, Ben can be kinda a douche, and lets remember, he didn't actually start liking Devi until all the rumors with her and Paxton. He does care for her, and he's helped her, but he's no better or worse than Paxton. Like him driving Devi to make it to the spreading of her father's ashes. I'm sure Paxton would have done that if he and Devi weren't on the outs at that point. I mean, you really think if Devi asked him to do the same thing, he'd be all, "eff off, loser!"
But anyways, wanting to be in a secret relationship with here was not great, but to be fair, he was embarrassed of her, but not because she was this nerd who would bring down his rep. Like he said, she cheated with him, he basically lost his athletic scholarship which some people blame her for, which is unfair, because, yes he was upset when he got hit by that car, but its still a freak accident. But yeah, people think she pushed him in front of that car. So its one thing that he's going out with a nerd, its another to have people find out he's back with the chick who cheated on him and broke his arm.
Other stuff, I woulda tweaked how the Aneesa rumor thing played out. Like in fairness, Devi didn't purposely start the anorexic rumor. She was careless with her words, and said something that she didn't even realize would be harmful at the time, and it basically blew up. Like thinking about it now, technically those two girls really were more responsible for the spreading of the rumor than Devi. Like Devi said something random, and they're the ones who started telling everyone.
I woulda liked it better if maybe they did something where Devi didn't even realize she was the one who started the rumor at first, because frankly I'm surprised she remembered in the morning.
Overall, I liked everyone's character development. Like I liked Fabiola's story arc where just because she's a lesbian doesn't mean she has the same interests as all of Eve's friends. There were a lot of poignant moments throughout the season. And glad to see Devi getting along better with her mom, but I do wish they addressed the situation with her and Dr Jackson and keeping it from Devi more.
Because I'm still not sure Nalini got how much that it fucked Devi up claiming she wasn't going out with Dr Jackson. Like she might think Devi was just being dramatic, but because Devi has issues and done messed up things, she's worried she's crazy. And her mom basically lied, causing her to think maybe she is crazy. Hopefully they touch on that more.
