TV commentary:
Major Crimes- I knew it!
The ep description talked about "a surprise death connected to Philip Stroh", and I was thinking, the show wouldn't be so crazy to have him somehow tamper with Sharon's pacemaker and be the real cause of her death. And indeed, as soon as they had Rios show up after so long, I figured she was the one Stroh was going to kill. Especially after she tells Provenza, "I have important information on the Stroh case, that I will wait to tell you tomorrow!"
But heh, seriously, she just came back from a funeral, let's just take a midnight swim! But seriously, Stroh having some Brit protege (I knew that neighbor kid was totally suspicious!) infecting all of their devices (except Provenza's because he's old) and getting access to them as well as the squad room? Its a little far fetched for this show.
Also, the show usually doesn't show things from the criminal's perspective, so its weird to see all of Stroh's machinations. Heh, I am amused his partner had that dead man's switch set up, because, yeah, with a guy like Stroh, that's just smart. Also smart, planning to kill Stroh, because even with that dead man's switch I wouldn't put it past Stroh to try and kill him anyways. Especially if he's dying of cancer.
Man, talk about one creepy MF though. That flashback to his youth was ridiculous. I mean, I guess he's a psychopath, and his mom didn't believe him, but it disgusts me that that punk actually tried to lie all, "Oh, she called me names and hit me, and so I was defending myself!" Seriously, how lacking empathy do you have to be to think such a terrible lie would actually work?
And since when was Sharon's son Ricky some computer expert who works for a fancy defense contractor. But man, as soon a Stroh showed up at Colonel Sanders from Spaceball's house asking about a Gwendolyn, it became obvious this was all a long con to point the squad at him and make them think they figured out his plan to find her. Which he wants, so he could secretly co-opt them to actually find her for him. But I guess they did mix it up by it turning into a whole, "Oh, he's looking for her to find this other person".
It was funny how British kid had thought he was ahead in the search, looking for someone they didn't even know about, but then the investigation kicked up enough of a fuss that the guy freaking shows up in the squad room!
Anyways, I liked how they showed the Squad's phones getting low battery because of the malware, but it was frustrating waiting for them to figure it out. (And they still haven't by the end of the second ep!) Heh, and it only took two episodes for Gus to finally see a pic of Stroh and be all, "OMG! I saw this guy!"
I did like how Victor from Dollhouse apparently had secret cameras in his mom's place to catch elder abuse, so British boy started crapping his pants because he had gone to see the lady. And the cameras weren't networked, so he couldn't hack them to destroy evidence of his visit. Unfortunately, he did have the squad hacked, so he was able to corrupt the evidence before it revealed him. Though, it would be foolish if the other son gave them the originals and had no backups!
