TV commentary:
The Borgias- Started watching this because
zarathustra94 and
turdburgler kept wanting me to. I'm enjoying, though it is a little weird since they're the bad guys in Assassin's Creed so I'm used to them being the enemy, but I'm finding myself rooting for them here. Also, this show's version of Micheletto is pretty cool, but it makes me kinda sad because he would've made a cool nemesis in AC.
Stranger Things- Started watching this on Netflix as well. Pretty good, very 80s-ish, shades of Spielberg and King, as well as Freaks and Geeks. Heh, but I think because of the Spielberg influences, I wasn't expecting the show to be as violent as it was. I mean, its not like there's a lot of gritty violence like the current crop of crime dramas. Just some unexpected violent acts.
Like the first ep, while ET had scary shadowy government agencies doing sinister stuff, it certainly was a shock to have the fake social worker pull out a silenced pistol and just shoot the diner guy in the head. I wanna say if this was some 80s movie, they would certainly imply violence, but not actually show it. Like the Goonies, the Fratellis killed a bunch of dudes, but its not like you see them actually do it.
Powers- Cliffhanger ending! But I didn't think the show is doing well enough to get another season. In any case, it was a bummer of a cliffhanger. Though I totally forgot about the one story arc.
So Walker sacrifices himself by playing to Supershock's delusions and getting him to fly them both into the sun. But the end tag is Walker in a mysterious light, with some voices talking about him being a worthy candidate. Which I guess is when that one... alien organization gave him powers a la a ring or special suit?
But Pilgrim's newfound powers allow her to survive getting her heart ripped out, and while the heroes defeat Supershock, the deathtoll from his latest rampage, and the reveal that he cause the Caracas Earthquake and Retrogirl covered it up has re-stirred up anti-Powers sentiments. Or rather, it allows that one reporter lady to stir up anti-Powers sentiments.
Heh, at first I was confused about her talking about Retro Girl's reputation being ruined, because I was all, "Wait, when did Calista lie to the public about Supershock?!" and then I remembered that they meant Janis.
PLL- Looks like there's a new alliance.
Jenna, Sara, and Noel? See, I don't think they have anything to do with AD though, because it seems like their alliance just started up. And I'm not convinced Mary Drake is the one taunting the Liars, because it did seem like there was friction between her and Rollins/Archer Dunhill.
I think they were working together to defraud Ali of the significant wealth she amassed, but before he died, it seemed like Elliot was double-crossing her and cutting her out of the scam. I mean, she even reveals to Ali that she was in on things, and expresses displeasure at his disappearance at the same time as Ali's wealth. So I think this third mystery partner she was unaware of screwed her.
But whoever they are, they seem to be running with the Liars' scam of making it look like Rollins fled, as AD is making it look like he's running around withdrawing money after the train ride. And of course the guy Spence had an almost fling with is a new detective!
And ugh, Ezra proposes to Aria. Who is keeping secret the fact that someone called his phone from Nicole's cell, which she answered while he was out. Now, she didn't hear anyone on the other end, but because the Liars are freaking bonkers, they decide not to tell Ezra and just erase the call, as they think it was prolly just a prank or something anyways. Which, WTF?! You never know! And its not for them to decide!
Whatever, that's not even what I'm most mad about. They're having him propose, as if Ezria is some relationship that should be applauded. The dude creeped on an underage girl, and on top of that was secretly spying on her the whole time, and he still is unapologetic about it.
