TV commentary:

Scream- I feel like we got a whole lot of little things this ep, though with this only being the midway point of the season, I want to say there were a whole lot of red herrings. Where to start? Well, the sheriff confronts Emma and her mom about the computer, and to my surprise, he doesn't think its her doing these things. He lists the stuff Kieran told him (which Emma is pretty pissed about), and Maggie fesses up about the farm and saying Emma saw some stuff there but they didn't find anything when they checked later. But yeah, the sheriff thinks she is indeed being harassed by some psycho again, which feels like a 180 from how they've been having him act.

But yeah, he goes to check the farm, and he does find a pic- one of what is presumably baby Emma being held by a dude who's face is scratched out. He calls someone once his deputy is out of sight saying, "We have a problem!" Presumably its Maggie, because she shows up later, but I suppose he could have been talking to someone else and the way its cut makes you think she was the person on the other side of the phone. I don't think they're being that tricky though. In any case, it sounds like he and Maggie know something more- I said I was suspicious that there was something going on back when Emma's dad came back and he, Acosta, and Maggie made vague references to some incident from their past.

Was there another set of attacks or something that they covered up? Miguel name dropped Brooke's dad during the conversation in the farm house, so I guess he was involved too?

Speaking of the Mayor, his daughter is freaking out about what she did to Branson. So she goes to Audrey for help and tells her about tying up Seth in the hotel room and threatening him with castration. Audrey decides to help her and they go to the hotel, only to find Branson gone and the room pristine. (No blood from having his hand cut off and all that jazz) But, there's a hidden camera that secretly filmed them going in and retrieving the blindfold and his watch.

Later, Brooke gets a call from "Branson" saying he wants her to meet at his former office at school (its a Sunday, so no one is around) and "apologize" (yes, his text actually had the word in quotes, and the girls are understandably skeeved). Audrey also gets a secret text from the killer telling Audrey to go in the school alone first, or else he'll text Brooke the pic of her standing over Jake's body.

Meanwhile, we get a little more insight into what Lange is doing. She's been keeping meticulous recordings, and she has files on the Lakewood Six. Some of the recordings are labeled with a chapter and number, which makes me think she's working on a book or something. But there was also something in her behavior that made me think she might be an undercover cop. Like it doesn't track with her possible relationship with Branson (we still don't have the details on that, other than she seemed jealous when Brooke told her they spent the night of Jake's death together), but when the killer shows up to menace her, she does a damn good job of defending herself. Like when the killer first comes at her, she floors them with a side kick to the stomach and manages to fend them off and get away.

Too bad she's slowed down by seeing Seth bleeding out in the hallway! She pauses to check on him, giving the killer time to catch up. He tells her to run, and she dodges out of the way, but Branson gets stabbed instead. She manages to make her way up a staircase, but the killer catches up and throws her off. And there's like a crazy amount of blood from a fall though. But yeah, the killer doesn't have time to admire his or her work, because a janitor shows up so they run. Which, Seth's body is gone though, like, the killer had to run to avoid the janitor, but had enough time to scoop up Branson's body without him seeing?!

Anyways, Audrey shows up at this point, telling Brooke she's going to go in first to scope things out. But she's just following the killer's instructions to go in a lone. She wanders in, wanting to know what the killer wants, but its the janitor who finds her, saying he thought she was the EMT. Brooke walks in, tired of waiting and the janitor takes them to Karen. I guess the cops will figure out she was attacked and it wasn't a slip, particularly since she was thrown over the stair railing and lying next to the stairs as opposed to crumpled at the bottom of the stairs.

But unless the killer is really fast and managed to grab stuff out of her office in addition to Branson, they'll find all her research on the Lakewood Six?

Audrey goes to Noah's later to tell him what happened, since Noah's been avoiding her calls all day. But that's because he was wanting to spend time with Zoe, who he knows is jealous of Audrey. And indeed, Audrey interrupts them just as they're about to have sex. Heh, Audrey is insistent, much to Noah's chagrin, so Zoe takes her leave. But after he hears the story, he's a little more sympathetic, because now they wonder what the killer actually had planned for her, had the janitor not thrown a monkeywrench in things by being there.

But yeah, onto to Noah's part of the story. He spends the day with Zoe. She says she just wants to study, but Audrey jokes that its a study DATE. He's skeptical at first, but Zoe admits that's what it is. However, she acts sketchy as hell this ep. Heh, they actually go to the trouble of saying she was out of town for season 1, which is why she wasn't around previously. But, first she tells Noah she was at some academic program, but Noah's confused since that program is in June, not October. So caught in a lie, she admits that she thought that was easier than the truth.

She eventually fesses up that she did something "dark", and her mother put her in therapy. Noah's trying to be sympathetic, and I guess also he wants to get in her pants, so I think he's missing the huge red flags here. With all that happened in their town, and a new set of killings starting, I'd be a little more concerned. Like I said though, this only the midpoint of the season. It seems to early to make her this sketch and have her be the killer.

Of course, maybe I'm reading too much into things. Like I'm seeing people feel all sorry for her, and reading her confession as her saying she felt so sad and alone, and that the "dark" thing she did was try and kill herself. Which I guess its possible. But if you look at it, the feelings she admits are pretty close to what Audrey confessed, that feeling of aloneness. And look what Audrey did! I mean, I guess Zoe could be the example of her turning her anger and frustration inward, and possibly trying to take her own life, or it could be an indication that she went a step further than Audrey did!

Noah takes her back to his place, where he has her record herself on his computer since she's a fan of his podcast. However, while on it, she spots a file named Audrey. Which, it seems like Noah purposely had to save what she said now, since he named it Audrey, so its not like its an accidental recording. But yeah, she sends Noah to get her a drink, and she secretly listens to the file. Which, heh, for some reason the recording is only of Audrey saying she brought Piper to town, and not the context.

Which Zoe gets mad over and secretly e-mails the file to... someone? Herself? So now that's floating around, which means its going to come up at an inopportune time. Especially since Noah has been urging Audrey to tell Emma what she did, that Emma will understand. But Audrey's scared of how she'll react.

Noah tries to reassure her that he understood, but while they are best friends, I think with Emma its different. Like I'm pretty sure Audrey has always had a crush on Emma. This whole thing where she felt all alone and contacted Piper, that kinda coincides with when she lost Emma as a friend to the popular kids. She's very protective of Emma, even risking getting exposed to save her, like that time at the motel.

But onto the last storyline of the night. The Eli-Emma stuff. Eli wins the creeper award this ep, for secretly going into people's houses (sometimes while they're still there, sleeping!) and making himself breakfast and crap. Emma vents to him about feeling betrayed by Kieran. And Eli tries to do his cousin a solid by saying Kieran is so overprotective because of all the people he lost. His mom and step-dad in a car crash, which he feels ultra guilty of because he had and argument with his stepdad right before. And then his real dad got killed by Piper. So Kieran just doesn't want to lose any more people.

But heh, at the same time, I think Eli is secretly salting his cousin's game though, by claiming Atlanta Kieran is way different than Lakewood Kieran. And how Kieran has cast Emma in the role as perfect girlfriend, making it sound like his cousin is putting her on a pedestal and putting her to some high standards.

Anyways, he takes her on a field trip to sneak into a home for sale that's currently unoccupied. However, we see that Seth and Eddie's bodies are hidden in a tub in one of the bathrooms. Which, did Eli put them there, or did the killer know they were going to be there? Or do they just have the same taste in unoccupied houses and it was a weird coincidence?

In any case, Emma is unaware, and perhaps Eli if he had nothing to do with their placement. He ends up making a move on Emma, who seems receptive for several seconds but then stops him all, "But I'm with Kieran!" rather than immediately slapping him. Like it seems she's being put in this triangle with these two clowns, one a too old for HS-looking bland guy and a creepy weirdo! Like I don't get why she's suddenly into Eli, the first time they met, he was a creeper, and I don't think he's done anything to change her mind. Mostly, he's been someone she's been able to vent about Kieran to, and all he does is the opposite of Kieran.

They're interrupted by a fire that suddenly breaks out, and they manage to get out in time. Eli wants to flee because he can't get caught because they'll think they had something to do with the fire and he has a record. Who doesn't manage to flee? Seth, who's apparently still alive! Branson wakes up in time just to realize he's trapped in a fire and about to burn to death. So that kinda sucks for him.

But yeah, unless the killer has super powers, surely they wouldn't be able to abscond with the bodies in the middle of a house fire without Emma and Eli seeing. (again unless Eli is the killer and he knows the bodies were going up) Surely when the police come, they will find the bodies, but also realize they weren't killed by the fire. Or rather, realize Eddie died of a stabbing. They should be able to figure out Seth breathed in smoke so he was still alive during the fire. But they would notice his hand is missing.

It will be interesting to see how this is handled next week, if they'll realize these are murder victims. I mean, regardless, as long as they find the bodies, they'll be suspicious, because there should be no bodies. Of course, what will be really screwy is if Branson manages to survive.
