TV commentary:
12 Monkeys- Heh, neat episode.
So Cole and Ramsey's old group, the West VII, end up invading the facility. They get in using some secret tunnels. They seemingly kill Ramsey and are about to capture Cole and Jones, but Jones sends Cole back to change things. He ends up jumping a couple of days early, and runs afoul of Max, who takes him to Deacon. Cole doesn't realize he's arrived before the attack.
And amusingly enough, he ends up being the reason they find out about the secret tunnels. So, Deacon invades, but Max ends up freeing Cole, and he convinces her to join him. Its funny, because they get to the base just in time to be privy to a conversation earlier in the ep (I guess she didn't notice there were two Coles?!) and in that earlier scene, Cole swears he heard Max somewhere calling out for him. And she did, only it was for future Cole.
And then, we come to find out the gunfire Cole heard over the walkie, which he thought was Ramsey getting shot to death, was Cole killing the guys who were about to kill him. And so they're able to take back the facility and send Deacon running, and looks like Max is a part of the team now.
Its funny, because Cole took this mission to try and change the past, and the only evidence we've seen so far of him being able to change something is scratching the face of Cassandra's watch. Everything else though, seems to already have happened. I mean, this whole ep was an example of that, where he was responsible for things he had already experienced. Even that one doctor in Haiti from last week. The guy was dead, and that was because unbeknown to Cole at the time, he would be the one to kill the guy. So if not for the watch face thing, I would assume they think time is malleable, but its like the movie where you can't change the past and its all a loop.
We do find out about Cole and Ramsey's back story. They were a couple of scavengers trying to survive, until they ran into Deacon's group, the West VII. They got their name because they slaughter everyone in the West VII quarantine zone. I guess they weren't immune like the survivors out in the world, so Deacon feels they're weak and deserve to be killed. Since they have immunity to the disease it must mean the world is theirs. But yeah, since Cole and Ramsey managed to take out the guys who tried to jump them, two of Deacon's best, so he offers them a place in an organization.
Ramsey wants to be hell no, because he can tell Deacon is a psychopath, and Ramsey is not. But Cole wants them to survive, so he says they'll join.
Anyways, Cole does what he thinks he needs to survive. And he starts up a thing with that Max chick. But, since Ramsey has morals and doesn't want to kill people who they've already taken from. So he and Deacon butt heads, eventually resulting in Deacon telling Cole to finish his friend off, because if he has to make an example of Ramsey, his end will be much much worse. Cole goes to do it, but once he gets to Ramsey's tent, he can't do it. Even Ramsey knew Cole was there to kill him since he keeps on fighting Deacon's authority and knew the guy couldn't suffer him to live. He even offers up his knife to his friend, because just because he can't live under Deacon doesn't mean he wants to eff things up for his best friend.
But like I said, Cole can't do it. He and Ramsey flee- Cole wants to kill Deacon, but Ramsey tells him that would be crazy. Cole also abandoned Max, which hurt her, but he didn't want her to be a target too.
In the end, Cole opens up to Cassie, since she was wanting to know more about him, but there's no time for that, as she figured out where the night lab is.
