TV commentary:
Make It Or Break It- So this show is back. I prolly should've re-watched the fall finale because there were a few things I forgot.
Like I totally forgot Kaylee passed out and apparently her parents shipped her off to rehab?
As usual, Lauren does her thing where she acts all two faced, sowing disord and doubt, but this time its to plant the idea in the other girls' heads that it was perhaps Kaylee who leaked the pic of Sasha and Payson to Ellen Beals to cover her own ass. What the frick!?
You know, there are times I feel sorry for Lauren, but then she pulls stuff like that. Its like the show is trying to make her totally unlikeable. I mean, other shows, they at least give the rich bitch character some redeeming quality, but Lauren seems to lack any whatsover. She constantly screws over friends, throwing them under the bus for some imagined slight or to get ahead. I mean, even Steve is more redeemable than her! At least all the bad stuff he did, it was for her. Sometimes I don't even know why Lauren causes trouble! Its often beyond petty!
But its cool that Kelly Parker's back, I like her. And it gives the girls a villain that's a peer. I think one of the reasons for all that stuff I was saying is wrong with Lauren's character in the previous paragraph is that they often use her to fulfill the villanous role, but in doing that it doesn't make it all that believable that somehow she's still friends with the rest of them.
And woah, it was kinda amusing and weird to see Simon Tam as a new character. It seemed like he was gonna be an a-hole at first, someone trying to force Emily out. But then the scene at the house made it seem like maybe he is looking out for her. It was kinda amusing when he was all "I'm not trying to judge you?" to Chloe, when he did have a lot of disdain in his voice as soon as he came in, with comments like, "Emily doesn't even have her own room?!" Gee, I wonder why she would be acting defensive? Anyways, wait, are they possibly setting him up as a love interest for Emily's mom? Because it seemed like there was a moment there in that scene. Which would be disappointing, because I actually like her and Steve together.
Although the whole ankle bracelet thing was a little over dramatic. I mean, it seemed like there would probably be rumors going on about Emily anyways, I don't think the ankle bracelet was that much more scandalous. Is the world of competitive gymnastics really that snooty?! Honestly, I thought the leg warmers brought more attention to the whole thing. If she just played it off, I think people would be more confused rather than be all, "Tsk, tsk, look at that girl, she has an ankle monitor, she's the most evil person ever!"
But if it weren't for that little hiccup, Emily wouldn't have made that apologetic speech (though I guess Austin telling her off as opposed to just letting her continue on with her pity party was also responsible for that), which in turn wouldn't have knocked some sense into Lauren and push her back towards her dad.
It is weird that they keep hovering around a triangle between Emily, Kaylee, and Austin, but never actually going there. I mean, he was there for both girls this ep, but Emily obviously has a bf, and Kaylee's kinda wrapped up in her own drama. But obviously the dream sequence in the beginning hints that Kaylee has a thing for Austin and subconsciously sees Emily as a threat to that.
