Breath of Fresh Air

Before the first song that you heard me on,
There were people already tryin' to get me gone.
Tellin' me to quit rapping, "Just play the keys."
That my band had a singer, "They didn't need me."
But my band had my back, so we did the tracks.
So now every enemy's screaming insanity...
All they're ever gonna be's another big fan of me.

Today my philosophy professor, who teaches us little to nothing on a daily basis, handed back our midterm grades. This included four in-class essays and one three page, written-at-home paper, all on subject matter that was never taught to us. I'd say 85% percent ain't bad.

The best part, or perhaps the worst part, is why I was marked down from the ideal 100%. Let's look at the prof's critiques:

"What is the truth about our society?" This was scribbled at the bottom of my essay on Plato's allegory of the cave. This supposedly "helpful" critique is so vague, that I'm not sure what he's asking, or why.

On my essay about Kant's moral theory: "Discuss his theory further." What, did I not write enough? I took up the entire page and then some. Again, thanks for the vague comment, dickwad.

On my essay for the argument of good v. evil: "Why must there be so much evil?" I don't know, professor Prozac, how about you read the essay? I already wrote about why there is so much evil in the world. Go read it again.

The best comment, though, was on the previously mentioned essay on Kant's moral theory. In the side column, he made a bracket around the ethical dilemma I created, and he wrote, "This is utilianianisaxxzzz.

I can't read it. Legibility would be helpful. On my three page paper, he simply underlined sentences from time time, without writing anything else. How am I supposed to know if what you underlined was good, or if you underlined it because it sucked?

Besides my annoyance with this idiot, I'm still pleased with the grade. It's nice to have an achievement to hold onto while struggling with personal dilemmas.
