Salmonella

“I told you not to eat it,” Elijah huffs, as Adam rolls his eyes and shivers under three blankets on the couch.

He’s too tired to move, and they gave up, and just got him a bucket to hug about an hour ago.

“Thanks for the show of support,” he snarks before the twirling in his stomach makes him moan and double over.

It’s gross and horrible and he’s so grateful he’s not alone.  Elijah strokes his back reassuringly and murmurs soft words of comfort, as he chokes and gasps his way through another bout of being sick.  Then as Adam goes back to shivering the angel cleans him up.

It’s gone on since the middle of the night, and Adam is still feeling resentful of the neighbor that was nice enough to give him food that poisoned him in the first place.  They’re just lucky Elijah hadn’t been hungry for once.

“I’m sorry I fucked this all up for us,” he whispers curling in on himself slowly and trying to get warm.

“You didn’t fuck up anything,” Elijah says sharply

“We’re supposed to be celebrating,” Adam moans. “It’s our birthday.” This day means something to them both.  A year of togetherness and friendship, beginning with Adam being pulled from Hell.

The angel smiles at his pathetic complaint and smoothes Adam’s hair back from his face.  “We’ll have some more beloved.  Please let me help you rest.”

Adam’s been refusing the offer of being put out of his misery all day.  He figures if he ruined all of Elijah’s carefully made plans the least he can do is suffer in penance for it.

His angelic lover doesn’t seem to share his opinion.

It takes two more rounds of dry heaving, before Elijah finally just pushes Adam down onto the bed, and slaps two fingers against his forehead.

His eyes roll up and his body goes limp, and the next thing Adam knows he’s standing in a really nice hotel room with a balcony that opens overlooking the beach.

“Wow,” he whispers not sure if he’s more pleased by the view or the lack of illness.

“You like it?” Elijah comments softly.  “I had hoped that you would.”

Adam turns and smiles at his friend.  “Where are we?”

Elijah flushes slightly.  “In your dreams technically; but if you’re enquiring about where exactly this hotel is, we’re at the place I was going to take you to tonight after dinner.”

Adam groans, “I messed this all up didn’t I?”

“It’s not your fault you got sick,” Elijah sighs. “I’m sorry I’m not strong enough to just heal you.”

Angelic grace is a funny thing.  Normally his friend is full of it, because Elijah likes to do things the human way.  He enjoys walking, and eating, and showering.  He even likes folding laundry.

But Bobby had been hurt last week, and it had taken Elijah’s intervention to save his life.  Until the grace builds back up Elijah is mostly human, he only has enough juice to do really basic stuff.  Healing the sick isn’t so basic.

“This must have cost you a ton,” Adam mutters, and Elijah smiles replying, “I had a little brotherly intervention.”

At Adam’s shocked look the angel shrugs, “Castiel is a romantic at heart.  I know it’s hard to believe from the way he orbits around Dean; but he wanted this to be special for us.”

“What was this going to be E?”  Adam whispers

“I was going to share myself with you tonight,” Elijah answers, and he sounds so humble and needy, that Adam wants to scream his rage at the heavens that they missed this chance.

But then he wonders if maybe they haven’t.

“You’re sharing this dream with me right?” he questions. Elijah nods.  “Yes my body is sleeping next to yours right now.”

“So if I were to touch you here it would feel real to you,” Adam says a silent prayer that the answer is yes.

“It would feel like every other touch we share,” the angel agrees.

Adam grins and moves into Elijah’s personal space whispering, “How do you feel about two first times?”

The angel blinks, “You want to make love to me here in the dream and then later in our bodies?”

Adam nods and then gasps at the speed in which the angel wraps himself around his body.

“I would like that very much,” Elijah whispers.  “You have the best ideas.”
