It's Over!!! Hurrah!! Part II

So, Lucy Rowe, Will Stimpson and I take Daniel and Asa out to dinner at Elizabeth's Pizza.  The food is good and we get to make chit chat about dance.  Will tries to convince them to go to the Contra Dance at the Grange on Saturday (a secret dream of mine) and we bring up waltzing.  I tell them about Will's skill at waltz and his use of other dance techniques in waltz.  Will decides to show them a Waltz Out he has been working on with me, so we stand up from the table and start dancing in the aisle, while Asa video tapes it with her camera.  All of a sudden, someone shouts "Hey, I said this is a restaurant, not a dance hall!  SIT DOWN!"  We look over, and there are two off duty policemen, looking somewhat purturbed.  I sit down immediately because, hey, I'm not getting into a scuffle with a couple of cops on this of all nights.  Will however starts asking questions of the cops, the waiters, the manager, anyone who will listen, asking whether dancing in a restaurant is illegal.  I appreciate what he's trying to do and his concern for what seems like a pretty unnecessary reaction, but I really don't want to get in trouble with the law in front of our swedish friends on their first night in town, especially after the previous day's screw-ups.  Nothing bad happens there, though
The rest of the night goes pretty smoothly except for Megan and Dawn getting locked out of the house that Dawn, Daniel, and Asa were staying at.  It was about 1:00 and very, very cold.  Otherwise, no problems.  I did end up with an extra house guest for some still unknown reason.
The next day, bright and early we start the lessons.  There are alot of intermediate and advanced dancers in the beginner class but also a half dozen or so people that have never so much as rock stepped.  Daniel and Asa performed admirably though and even though we never got to the swing out everyone seemed pleased.  Then we go for lunch.  Probably 23 people from the work shops decide to go to the already busy Thai restaurant across the streed, including me, Chris, and the swedes.  We are there for about an hour before our food even comes.  Ironically, the food comes just as classes were supposed to recommense.  So we wolf down our food and Chris and the swedes head back while I wait to pay.
The afternoon goes off without a hitch.  That evening, a bunch of us decide to go out to Boba House, a fabulous vegetarian restaurant, for dinner.  This includes Dawn Hampton, and the illustrious Michael and Jaya.  Again, we're there for 45 minutes before our food even arrives, again coinciding nicely with the time we're supposed to be setting up the dance.  I get my food packaged up and head back with a couple of dancers who came separately and got served faster.  We make it back in time to set up and catch Physics Dan's first 20 minute set of all Miles Davis.  I agree that Miles Davis is a fabulous musican, arranger, and artist.  I still don't want to dance to him.
The dance continues as planned.  We come to the middle of the night, at which time there's supposed to be a performance showcase, feature acts by me and Chris, Physics Dan and Girl Mike, and then Daniel and Asa.  The first two acts go fine, but in the middle of the second act, I head back to the dressing room to let Daniel know that they're on next.  He's standing in the shadows looking sheepish.  "We appear to have left the music at the house," he says.  A debate ensues in swedish between him and Asa as to their next move.  It is eventually decided that we will tell the crowd that the performance will be delayed for half an hour while they get their music.  Once they get back, they're fabulous.
All Saturday, the officers of Fancy Feet and Fingers and Daniel and Asa have been discussing what to do about our private.  Part of the deal with the workshop was that we purchased a private lesson for the officers with Daniel and Asa.  We had originally wanted to do it on Sunday after classes, but that's not an option.  Alot of alternatives are discussed including some of us taking the private in Herrang that summer.  We finally decide to have the private that night after the performance.  This turns into herding cats, though, as there are six officers and all of them are wandering about dancing, serving cake, talking, and getting distracted by all the shiny things nearby.  I finally force everyone but Chris (I don't even try that one) to stand in one place until I can get Daniel and Asa to come to the room where we're having a private.  It finally happens and it goes real well.
