Drew and Mary's Wedding Reception
One of my best friends, Mary, got married either earlier this year, or late last year. I forget because I wasn't there...but then again, neither were most folks. It was a quiet (though eventful, I hear) affair with just a handful of folks in attendance. That being said, it seems that a lot of her relatives (and perhaps new relatives) felt like they had missed out and a reception was planned...
I understand that said reception made up for any wedding related stress that they may have dodged with the J.O.P wedding...
Anyway, I got my invitation and there was no way I was going to miss out on this. It said it was going to take place at a school in Washington D.C. and in my mind's eye I envisioned a gathering in the basketball court of the local middle school, but to my surprise, it was some college(?) just a few blocks away from the White House! The reception was on the top floor and we mingled in our monkey-suits with the National Mall with the Washington Monument as our backdrop. The weather was fantastic, the folks were friendly and the food was to die for! Unfortunately, it was on a Sunday, so I had to get on the road fairly early so that I could get up at 4:30 a.m. for work, but it was definitely a lovely time!
