Character Information
Name: Sadik Adnan (Turkey)
Canon Origin/Series: Axis Powers Hetalia
Teaching Position and why it suits them: Astronomy

Sadik places a lot of importance in the stars. When lost and left with nothing, they can guide you to safety and there is so much to space that as humans, we can still learn more and more about the heavens. The heavens have served Sadik well in his life, so he figures that the least he can do is teach future generations about the stars so they can continue to help us out.
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Out of school living location: he splits his time between his home in England and Istanbul, Turkey (hush it's totally part of Europe)
Blood status: Muggleborn

Personality: One of the most important to know about Sadik is that he is usually a very happy and friendly person. He does his best to help anyone who needs it, whether it involves giving them directions or getting into a fight for them. A natural host, Sadik loves having people over or inviting them out for lunch, dinner, tea, dessert, you name it. Sadik is also a very affectionate person. Even if he has just become your friend, he will drape on your shoulders, give you hugs and manly backpats. There is no sort of physical affection that he won't give you, depending on what you are comfortable with. He is very lively, never seeming to run out of energy to do what he needs and wants to do, which can be anything from making fun of you (which is something he does a lot) or just doing some exercise.

A competitive person, nothing gets his blood pumping harder and faster than competing against someone. It doesn't matter what it is, Sadik will jump right in and do his very best to be the best there ever was. He is a massive show off, having a lot of pride in himself and his things. As a young boy, he was a bit of a bully and picked on people, but now that he's gotten older, he doesn't exactly regret his past actions, but he's eager now to make amends and become friends with his former victims.

Quick to anger, say or do the wrong thing and you would end up with an angry person at your heels who won't stop until he has let out his anger. Sadik can also hold a grudge forever. No matter when it happened, if you haven't proven yourself worthy of his forgiveness, then you won't have it and it'll show in his behavior. He'll make fun of you, annoy you, try and compete with you, or just generally be cold to you. But don't let that make you believe that he won't help you out. You could be his worst enemy and if Sadik is in a position to help, he'll do so, if grudgingly.

He loves to keep up with fashion. Sadik has a passion for anything new and you can be sure that whatever he's wearing at the time is definitely in style. A gourmet, Sadik loves all sorts of good food, but especially loves traditional Turkish sweets, such as ashure or Turkish Delight. He even carries a bottle of apple juice to drink whenever he has a free moment. Ask him to cook a meal for you, and he'll do so with gusto! Just to be a good host and to show off of course, but he is also a big fan of cooking in general.

Canon Background: Ottoman History & Turkish History can be very long and complicated, but luckily (or not so), Turkey's appearances in the comic have seem to left out most of Turkey's impact in world history. He doesn't have many appearances, but they seem to be divided equally from his time as the Ottoman Empire and his state now as the Republic of Turkey.

Turkey's first appearance is sometime during the 15th-16th centuries. He makes an appearance as the Ottoman Empire attempting to take control of Southern Italy away from Spain. Rather than get into a conflict with Spain right away, he decides that it'll be better for him to go home and eat some ashure before deciding that it is time for war to happen between the two.

He makes another appearance attempting to communicate with Northern Italy (who here represented Venice) but rather than the peace communications he was after, he instead was bested. Present day Turkey seems to bear no ill-will to Northern Italy, instead choosing to show good humor about their past actions.

Turkey makes his next appearance in the modern day in various gag strips that have nothing much to do with his history or country, other than a quick strip about Turkish baths.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Crimson Sadik Adnan was born to a muggle family, the youngest of six children, in Trabzon, Turkey. His mother was a teacher and his father was an astronomer. They didn't have much, but enough to live and be comfortable in their means. His mother was sure to impart Sadik with proper lessons about how to behave right while his father took Sadik into the expanses of the Anatolian peninsula to show him the stars and teach him everything he knows about them. The family moved around a lot, going wherever his father was needed. Eventually they settled in Istanbul and Sadik fell in love with the city. He spent almost all his free time exploring every inch possible of the city, learning all that he could about it, even getting to the point where he knew the Great Bazaar better than the old ladies who have been shopping there their entire life. But life in Istanbul was not meant to last.

Sadik's father was offered a job in England, one that was much better than his position in Istanbul. So with a heavy heart, the family left Istanbul and Turkey and flew to England when Sadik was only 10 years old. Sadik did not like England whatsoever. It was just simply too... English. There was nothing exciting about it. Oh sure, there was Big Ben and Buckingham Palace when the family took a trip to London, but it was nothing compared to the sights of the Topkapi Palace or the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. And don't even get him started on the smells. But, Sadik loved his family very much and was willing to put up with everything just for them.

On his eleventh birthday, Sadik found out that he was a wizard. That came as a shock to him and his family, but when a witch shows up at their doorstep claiming to be from a school named Hogwarts and suddenly offering an explanation for all the weird happenings that occurred around him over the past eleven years of his life. After being told everything that he was needed and him and his family were able to ask the questions they had, they were off to Diagon Alley to start adjusting to the wizarding world and do a little shopping. The minute he stepped into Diagon Alley, it was almost like stepping back into Istanbul. There were so many sounds and smells and sights. Sadik's senses were overwhelmed and he fell in love. They did a little minor shopping, saving most of the bigger purchases for the summer, but he couldn't wait for the opportunity to return to Diagon Alley.

The year passed by, and on September 1st, Sadik found himself on the Hogwarts Express, watching as he left London on the way to his first year at Hogwarts. He felt out of place at first, unsure about how well he exactly fit into this whole magical school. He strove to prove himself, not wanting to let those pure bloods thinking they were the best just because they were a part of the magical world and knew it since birth. He did well in pretty much all of his classes, but he excelled in Astronomy due to all the teaching his father gave him.

As he grew, he was starting to get his first taste of discrimination. He'll find himself getting picked on just because his family was not magical. Sadik was quick to defend himself, and anyone getting bullied, however, and soon, most bullies learned to stay away from him, as he was willing to forgo with wands and jump straight into fists. Combine that with his large physique (puberty was a friend of his) and Sadik found himself in detention. But it didn't matter to him, so long as those bullies learned their lessons.

In his later years at Hogwarts, Sadik started to become a bit of a bully himself. He starting picking on some of the younger students. They were always ones that seemed to rub him the wrong way. A Greek student seemed to be an exceptionally fond target of his. But before the end of his seventh year, it seemed as though as his bullying days had been put to a close when one by one, his targets stood up to him and bested him at something.

Wanting to put this entire spiel behind him, Sadik quickly returned to Istanbul, hoping to reconnect with the place he has always considered his home and perhaps explore the whole new side of it that was now open to him. He searched around Istanbul, hoping to find some sort of employment. He managed to find a temporary job at a muggle restaurant to support himself as he searched for employment in the magical half of Istanbul (he didn't think it possible for him to fall even more in love with the city). He was close to finding it when he received word from England that his father had died.

He instantly dropped everything and rushed to England to be there for his family, specifically his mother. He stayed in England, working various jobs for his siblings to help support their mother. He heard word that Hogwarts was looking for someone to teach Astronomy and without even thinking, he applied for the position. It was a job he could do and still be close to his mother. Whenever possible though, he makes visits to Istanbul, taking his mother along (though she prefers the muggle means of transportation... the magical means make her stomach upset). clover

Sample Journal Entry: Right, so I figure that I out to start writing in this thing. Been a while since I had one, don't really remember where I put my last one, but nothing wrong with starting over.

Got some time until my first class starts, so I'm just spending it in the tower, getting some things ready, but really just looking at the sky. You know that Astronomy is one thing that muggles and wizards have in common? We both place a lot of importance on understanding the stars, but there's so much out there that it's kinda hard. That's why we gotta keep on studying them, because there's so much more that we can find that can help us all out.

Heh, look at me, should be saving this stuff for class and not blathering on here in this journal.

So I guess I'll just leave off with this: don't care that it's midnight, you better show up to class on time and you better not fall asleep. Don't think I'll go easy on you just cause you're young or it's my first day. And if you know what's good for you, you won't forget your telescope.

Ha, guess I'll see you in class then. Hope you enjoy it, I know I will.

Sample Interaction Post in Third Person: There was something oddly calming about the scribbling of quills on parchment. Sadik is still trying to get used to this whole teaching gig as he walks along the row of students. He watches as they peer through their telescopes before furiously writing their observations down. All they're doing is just observing the moon (Sadik figured it'll be best to start off easy, then start letting them have it as the year went on) but they're really into it.

Sadik chuckles to himself. He thinks that maybe he's really suited to being a teacher. He leans against the wall right beside the doorway that leas back into the Astronomy Tower and takes a look up at the moon. He's already taken a good hard look at it tonight, and he knows what it looks like, but it's aways nice to just look up at the moon, especially on a night like this. Just something about it that takes him back to when he was younger, but this is no time for him to zone out. Sadik shakes his head and claps his hand a couple times.

"Right, turn in what ya got written. For homework, I want drawings of the different phases of the moon, their names, and the basic magical effects they have. Half a foot of parchment, due next week."

He can hear the grumbles and he has too keep himself from laughing. If they hate this now, just wait until he asks for the essays on Mars.
