Showers, with a chance of WET.

My two concerns about my trip to Ireland are, well, money and the weather. If you click the link, chances are you'll understand what I mean.

I've been told to prepare for major rain. So I went out and bought a raincoat, with a hood and a zip out fuzzy inner lining, that goes down to my knees, and I'm in the market for rainboots since the ones I currently own are big and trip me. I might possibly have a mile walk to school and back every day while I'm in Carraroe, which means I'm going to get a little wet.

My problem is I don't know how to transport books, notebooks, schoolbooks, a dictionary, without them getting totally soaked by the time I get there, and if I wear a backpack, and put my books inside a plastic bag, a few days and that backpack will be moldy as sin.

I'm trying to come up with a bag situation to transport things that I can't get wet. Any ideas, besides tearing up cheap raincoat, and making a bag out of it?
