Today in my Canadian studies conference we were all sitting around this large oval table discussing the possibilities of a coalition government and I just burst out laughing...seriously- tears welled up in my eyes for, like, half a minute because I was trying not to lose it and then I just exploded with laughter. It was really weird, but for some reason the whole idea fills me with uncontainable glee. It makes a gal feel light, or perhaps better said: like a child playing Junior Monopoly or some kind of Junior game of chance where you're not really in control but delighted when the dice is rolled in your favor.
But actually I think the absurdity of it all is the real genius...like if the game in question was Snakes and Ladders you may actually love playing it because there is this one googly-eyed snake with a tremendous head of grey hair and an interest in the environment, who, despite not being liked by many of the other snakes in his corner, may win the game. Or that other one in the bottom left hand-corner, the one with the amazing mustache, might win even though he is in 4th place at the beginning.
Lark!
What a Lark! Never before have I wished so badly to be the Governor General of Canada.
