This weekend belongs to the kids

For someone who can only take smaller children in small doses, my entire weekend is packed with them.  LOL

Last night, Mom and I were invited to my old friends, Christa and Chris's, daughter's first birthday party. Christa and both her sisters, all of whom were like sisters to me since I was like 5, were all in BG because theyir Mom is having knee surgery, so they had Abby's party here.  I went mainly to see the girls, since the only one who lives close is Angela. She lives about an hour away in Clarksville, TN. Christa lives in Olney, IL and Lisa lives in Knoxville, TN. It was a cute little party with a lady bug theme. Christa went all out.  All the neices and nephews were there, nine counting the birthday girl, all under 6th grade.  Angela's kids know me, since I have been to their house several times.  Lisa's oldest knows me, too, as I was one of his favorite people during his toddler years.  The other five were constantly giving me the "Who the hell is this man?" look. They are good kids, for the most part, though, so it wasn't  so bad. We stayed about an hour and a half.

Today before working at the store all afternoon, I have to go to my sister's baby shower for Margaret's side of the family, for  which my mom volunteered my party planning skills to my cousin who is throwing  the shower, without asking me. LOL I can only stay 45 minutes, since I have to be at work at noon. At least I'll get free lunch. LOL It's at the Cambridge Market, a local, catering shop/deli. I think only Katie's kids will be at this one, which is cool because Charlie and Amanda LOVE Cousin Gary.  I only get to see them about once a month, if  that much because Katie lives in Cave City, a little north of here.  It may be a bit of an ordeal if Margaret's mother-in-law shows up.  Of course, we invited her and Nathan's sister, but she wanted to invite like 10 other people and got mad when Nathan told her she couldn't do that because Katie was paying for everything and it wasn't fair to her. She did the same thing at the shower Margaret's church threw for her.  Amanda's reaction was that her family felt left out because they hadn't been invited to any of the showers. Nathan told her to have them throw one themsleves.  Basically, we're talking about a woman who is too cheap to throw a shower herself. She said she wouldn't come since she couldn't invite the rest of her side of the family.

Tomorrow is Amanda's 3rd birthday party at Chuckie Cheese.  This will be the one!  Way  too many kids in an already noisy kiddie place.  Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world.  Amanda's my girlfirend. LOL She's developed a stubborn streak, though. LORD!!  For instance, one day she and her brother were taking turns playing with their cat.  Amanda had her turn first, then Katie gave the cat to Charlie, who is five. Well, Amanda didn't think she was finished playing and kept trying to horn in on Charlie's "cat time." When katie told her  tostop, Amanda got mad.  Then went over and flipped the damn coffee table over. Of course, katie took care of that matter, but still a tweo year old fliiping the coffee table over.  I was like WTF?!?!

Well, I am going to go eat some breakfast before heading down to Aunt Nancy's to pick her up for the shower, which is at 11. Enjoy your Saturday.
