Collaboration with Jem

Sep 03, 2009 10:05

After doing some of that stuff with Darrel and Sean I was thinking of other folks I might know who would be into it. Thought of my friend Jem, who had mentioned a few times that she likes to paint. I messaged her: You like to draw? She: Yeah. Why?

Two days later we're at my dining room table, heads bent over pieces of paper, scrawling and scribbling. I thought we'd work on them for an hour or two, but several hours later she looked at her watch and said, "I gotta go. You don't even wanna know what time it is." I never looked at the clock before I went to bed. She was right, I don't like to know.

We got back together this week to work on them some more, and this week it was all color work, as the drawing was largely finished by that point. Above is our progress when we called it quits at midnight. They're looking pretty good so far, and she's doing this cool stuff with color blending that I haven't really tried to do before, so I'm experimenting (badly) with that myself right now. I can't wait to finish these things, and it looks like we can wrap them up in another couple of weeks if we can stay on schedule.
