Two New Sculpture Videos

It hasn't been all that long since I've posted here, but in that time I've managed to complete a couple of videos for two of my new rolling ball sculptures. I didn't even realize I'd fallen behind, so it's definitely time for an update.

The first piece, called "Tick Tock," is a unique work that was done for a trad show display company in Canada. They needed a piece to go with a display for one of their clients. It had one very interesting physical challenge in that it could only be six inches deep. It was also very tall, "like a grandfather clock," they said, hence the name of this one. The depth eliminated a lot of track routing possibilities. Even things like spirals generally take more than six inches of horizontal space to execute. I had to get creative.

They also needed it in a very short period of time! I had only three weeks to design, build, test and ship the piece to them. It was a lot of work in a short period of time, but I'm happy to say I created a really great sculpture for them and even got it shipped out ahead of schedule! They loved it, and I'm happy with how it turned out as well. See the video below for the final result.

The second video is for a recent small desktop piece I created called "Let Go." This is a fun conversation piece that works great in an office setting. Rather than one of my giant, motorized, wall-mounted sculptures that requires lots of space, this piece fits comfortably on an office desk. I used a variety of straight sections with drop-throughs and finished it off with a smooth spiral for some variety. As of this writing, Let Go is still available. You can check it out on my web site tomharold.com.

Below is the feature video.
