Life, revisited

So, everything today worked out okay, meaning I got everywhere I needed to be pretty much on time. The interview/welding test went well in the fact that they seemed like a decent company to work for and they were helpful in answering my questions. On the downside, my welding was not up to par for the work they require. I haven't done thinner material very recently, and my welds were looking pretty lame on the test pipe. I could get it whipped into shape pretty quickly if I practiced, so I asked what I should focus on and what my weak spots appeared to be from the test. They encouraged me to come back and try again in a month if I want, so that was cool.

Had my 11-hour day at work today, which went just fine. I like welding, and the job today didn't require lifting anything heavy or maneuvering any awkward parts, pretty much a dream shift if you take out the extra 3 hours. Doesn't hurt to put in some more hours, either. I have to take part of Friday off, so that will make up for it. Wish I could get overtime, but it's not gonna happen.

Anyway, I was a little worried about the interview, but I think it all worked out for the best. I'll probably try to scare up some scrap thin-wall tubing in the coming weeks and get my technique together and maybe give it another shot.
