the silence that rests between two words is not the same silence as the one that veils a head when it falls down, neither the one that strikes us with the presence of a burnt tree when the wind of fire goes out. and as every voice has a pitch and height, every silence has a record and depth. the silence of a man is different from the silence of another and it is not quite the same to hush one than to mute another. there exists an alphabet of silence but they have not taught us to spell it out. nevertheless, the reading of silence is the only durable one, perhaps more than the reader.
