KM: The producers only ever had a five year plan for Merlin. They planned out the stories, the character arcs all based on five series, and I think we all feel very lucky that we got to play our characters from the start, and we got the opportunity to carry it right through to season five. Part of telling the story is telling it’s ending and I think we all feel very lucky that we got to do that. There was never a plan to go past the fifth season and it’s nice to be able to put a full stop to your characters and see them right the way through.

I: So we’re gonna have the ending in season five?
KM: Yes. You will have your- all your, all your questions will be answered.

I: Is there a chance there’ll be a movie based on the show?
CM: No there were rumors that started a while ago and I do not see there being a movie of Merlin, certainly not with the cast of the TV show, possibly it could go onwards but I don’t see there being a future. I mean I think fans are gonna be really really sad despite with what the series has to offer.

I: You have a huge fangroup in Iceland, would you ever want to visit the country?
KM: I really want to go! I really want to go to iceland.
CM: Yeah I’d love to go to Iceland, yeah.
KM: Sit around, drink some beer, listen to some Sigur Rós.
BJ: Yeah have good […] food.

I: We have a few fan questions. First question is from Oliver, he’s 11 years old and he wants to ask Colin: did you want to portray another character than Merlin?
CM: No I like what Merlin gets to do in the show, I think it’s from the point of view of a guy who has magic. It’s a lot of fun. I mean it would be, I guess me as myself would have liked to do more action scenes probably, but it’s cool cause in the post production of the show with all the special effects, they get to make Merlin look a bit cool when he does his thing, and whenever he’s not he can be the clumsy servant. So it’s good he as a character gets a mixture of everything.

I: Markús wants to know if Katie always wanted to play the evil queen of Camelot?
KM: Do I want to be the evil queen of Camelot?
I: Yes.
KM: Absolutely. I think Morgana would make a much better queen than Arthur as King, and I think it’s very unfair that she doesn’t get to do it!

I: Here’s another one from Marteinn, he is 9 years old and he wants to know are the magic chants fiction or are they’re from real books?
CM: The magic spells in the show are genuine old english that the production actually have a consultant for in old english, so whenever we get the script we get the old english spell, the english translation and pronunciation guide, so each spell has a genuine meaning. But I don’t think it has any actual magical powers.

I: What takes over now that the production of the show is finished?
KM: I’m going on a holiday. I would like a rest. It’s been five long years and just want to take a bit of a break before I think about what the next thing I’m going to do.
BJ: Bradley James, Flash Gordon, uhm… I’m gonna be enjoying Christmas with my family.
CM: And yeah I’m gonna take time off over Christmas as well. Go home, see family, see friends, do normal stuff.

I: They also send their Christmas wishes to their Icelandic fans.
