warnings: This is set many years in the future - however, for the purposes of the fic it’s a future that’s fairly similar to the present (cos I wanted to concentrate on the romance rather than making it science fiction). Your willing suspension of disbelief is kindly requested.
And of course the logic of the fic dictates that our oldest and dearest cast member must have already passed on some while before. So if you need a warning for Colin’s heartfelt grief over the loss of Richard, then please consider it done. {sniff}
summary: Bradley and Colin have shared a long happy life together. While trying to cope with the changes that old age inevitably brings, they look back at all the things that went right for them and the things that went wrong.
Some time ago my darling friend
mrs_leary asked me for a prompt, something I'd like to see written. And almost immediately I prompted her with the idea of old!Bradley and old!Colin recalling their past and the years they spent together, inspired by Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook. I always loved the concept of the book because most love stories end when the happy couple confessed 'I love you' to each other and The Notebook went further and looked 45 years into the future - a time, when the end is (almost) nigh.
So what would Bradley and Colin have to tell about their life together once they're grey and old? Would they have managed it? What problems would they've had to deal with? What happy memories do they share? How was it growing old together?
The Letters tells a story about growing old together in such an intense and amazing way, my humble words of recommendation can't do this masterpiece justice in any way. Just believe me when I say it's absolutely breathtaking and you shouldn't miss out on reading it! ♥
